At my local gun show yesterday, only three 99s,. A mid 20s F in 303 with Lyman 30 1/2 peep, a 50s EG in 300, and the one with best condition was a 1961 F in 308. Looked like it just came out of the box. If I didn't have a 99 in 308 I would have been plenty tempted. Only thing, I never understood them dammmm gold triggers. Who ever came up with that idea should be drawn and quartered, or at least slapped. Prices were a wee bit high tho. Seems like most tables with 99s on em, the seller doesn't have much general Savage knowledge. Just thinks they are all retirement fund, regardless of condition.

The one good thing is it helps you immediately in determining a post mil.
I have a 1961 99F in 300. Nice rifle. Use it as my backup to my 99C in 284.

The cut checkered post mil F's and DL's are starting to grow on me although I haven't pull the trigger on one yet (pun intended)

Randy, should we talk you out of it or let you dance with that shiksa? I think it's cabin fever. Everything is starting to look good to me. Been a long winter. Even here is Va.
