I traded into this one with a couple of boxes of ammo thrown in, expecting that further ammo would be tough to find. I already have a 17HMR and a 22 magnum, but I like exotics and it fit right in. https://imgur.com/a/Tyvu3RkSometimes it’s better to be lucky! Aguila has produced a new run of 5mm and I scarfed up 500 rds. I am a happy camper!

If you find that the Aguila ammo shoots in your 591, you might want to buy a lifetime supply while you can get it.

The first run Centurion stuff shots well in my 592. Never shot my 591 much. Haven't grabbed any of the new stuff yet.

The hollow point stuff (not varmint) is what my 592 likes.......a lot.

I bought a 591 for my woodchuck rifle in 1979. It shot fabulous with the Remington 38 gr. HPPL ammo. Killed a truckload of chucks, some rabbits and squirrels and a couple of deer with it. Sold it along about 1983 or 84 when I ran out of ammo for it. I'll never forgive Remington for discontinuing the ammo so soon.

Remington doesn't care about the 5mm. Or it's customers who bought the 5mm rifles. Hell they obviously didn't care in the early 80's when they left their customers who bought their rifles in the 70's with no ammo. I despise Remington to this day for that.

Just back from a LGS. He has a nice 592 with (3) boxes of the old Remington ammo included. Asking $425 but I suspect I can get it a little less. He also has (6) boxes of the new Aquila ammo in stock at $24.95 each. I'm considering trying to make a deal for all of it.

Make your best pitch to the guy...……...but go with enough cash in your pocket to pay face price.

Came close to jumping on that wagon when the 5mm was introduced but other things got in the way. Remington's support of its customers for that cartridge left much to be desired.
I am..........disturbed.

I waited til JUUUUUUST before the general public became aware of Centurion's initial ammo release to jump on the 5mm bandwagon. Scooped a 591M (98%+) and a 592M at the same auction for a song...……..along with 2 1/2 boxes of original ammo. Sold the ammo and knocked 1/3 off the price of the guns. Then stocked up on the Centurion ammo when it hit the street. VERY glad I got in !!! The 5mm RRM is NOT what most folks picture when you say "rimfire". There's a whole lotta potential in the round. Remington has abandoned more than one of their red-headed stepchildren.
