Most of the sales are just starting. Colorado sale is today.
$170.00 was the high and $1.00 was the low for coyotes
Bobcats high was $1350.00 and low was $6.00.

I had hopes of selling a $1350 bobcat, but the buyer told me that WA bobs don't bring anywhere near that much. If I zap one I'll be having a nice rug made instead.

Over the last ten years some very nice bobcats have sold for over a thousand bucks. That said most good ones go for 300-$500. The average would be closer to 200-$300. Where they come from makes a big difference. The prices I mention are from the western part of the country. In other parts of the country the prices may be as low as $30. Its all in the fur, the size and the spots.

I have a feeling the best cats never make it to NAFA or FHA, they get sold at the auction in Fallon.

WHITE bellies and lots of spots are the key. Ours are off white.

This is why I dont attempt to sell fur.

Coyote- East Texas, North Louisiana around $7.00. No rubs on back or weak bellies. Do not skin junk. No unskinned Coyotes please.

Bobcat-Up to $25.00 on better Louisiana and East Texas. Please note the value of the cat is the white spotted belly. A narrow bellied or smokey bellied cat will not bring much. A cat that is brought in wet or dirty will not bring a good price. We will buy unskinned cats. Bobcat fur primes up after Christmas and most stay good until early March.

Beaver-Down some from last year's average, price is $5.00. Whole unskinned beaver. $4.00.

Beaver Castor-Clean, no oil sacks or fat-$18-$20 per pound green. This will need to be semi thawed so we can grade it. Fatty castor will be much lower!

Grey Fox-Still cheap. Prices about $5.00.

Red Fox-No good news, may bring about the same as Grey Fox.

Otter-Better Otter $18.00. Unskinned Otter up to $13.00.

Mink and Muskrat-Prices are very bad, don't harvest.

Opossum- No value.

Skunk- No value.

Coons-No market. We will stock at about $1.00 average on good stuff.

No idea on what furs bring today but for a blast from the past the best I ever did on Colorado cats was $7,980 for 11 cats in 1978 or 79. Long before a lot of folks on this site were born.

I was 7 or 8 then and ran a trapline with my neighbor. Mostly Fox, Coon, and Muskrats. I remember giving my mom the money. She said where did you get that? I told her from trapping with Jim. She didn't believe me so went next door and asked him. He was in his in his mid 20's I think then. he said yes he earned that from helping me run my trapline. My mom told him it wasn't necessary I just loved being outdoors. Which was true. Anyways mom told me I could keep it. I told her it's for her to help pay the bills but she wouldn't take it. Would love to know what Old Jim is up to these days.

Here in Kentucky, you can't even give a bobcat away. A few years ago, a fur buyer was paying $50 for them unskinned. I have been giving the ones I kill to a taxidermist, who would then give me a break on a mount. However, he has passed away, so the one in my freezer is still there.

I just started trapping about ten years ago when I retired and had the time but the best Cat I sold was $750 6-7 years ago.

Last year I only caught one flat weak bellied cat......my fur buyer wouldn't even take it frown ....so I gave it to a friend so he and his kids could try their hand at home tanning.

Friends was smaller but whiter and it brought 550.00

Still have a good time, but sorta disappointed. I still think it was a beautiful animal.

Nice pale Coyotes are averaging $100 or better and going up in price (this is for the MT/Alberta prairie Coyotes). A friend got $50 carcass price last week. They will be rubbing pretty soon.

Here is what the high dollar cats look like. Cat on the left is 43" nose to base of tail and 10" wide and will bring somewhere around 13-1500.00. I have avg. 88.29 on 91 coyotes this year

Beautiful kitties. Congrats. This is one of the better Coyotes I've taken. I call rather than trap, so there is more mess.
