Anyone has a resolution to the small gas tank in the tundra?
Is there a small slip tank out there a guy could put in the bed? Even if it's just an extra 20 gallons?
Any other options???

What year is your Tundra, Tarkio? There are companies that make larger tanks for the Tundras, but they aren’t cheap, IIRC.
I've seen more well-shot game lost with TSXs than any other premium bullet.

Any other options??? I’ve a 2018 Tundra with the 38 gallon tank and it’s nice. Before that I had a 2500 gmc z-71 with the 6.0 and I had a uws low profile tool box in the bed. The distance from the bottom of the tool box to the floor of the bed was ~7”. I had a welding shop that I’ve used over the years fabricate an aluminum gas tank that fit under the tool box with the filler neck jutting out right at the tool box bottom next to the driver’s side, inside of the bed making it convenient to fill both tanks. I had a manual switching valve in the cab and just opened the bed tank line to the fill neck of the truck’s tank and just watched the level go up. The bed tank was about 17-18 gallons. Didn’t mean to go on so long here. This might be an option to consider. My cost was 200$ for the fabricated tank and I did the installation.

It is a buddy's tundra. He was convinced to buy one after coming out here and hunting with me last year. Liked my tundra and went home and bought a nicer newer one than I have.
I suggested getting a bed tank manufactured by an outfit that builds race cars or off-road trucks and plumbing it in. Simple solution to avoid him trading it out and taking a huge $ hit.
Think he said he can find a 38 gallon tank and get it installed. Wonder just how expensive that's going to be. Were it me, I would just add a bed tank and be done.

i hear ya bud. i've got a 2010 tundra 4x4 dc with the 5.7L that has the 26 gallon tank. for some odd reason toy engineers decided it would great for the "low fuel" light to come on when you still have 6gallons in the tank. it always drives me crazy but have dealt with it and consciously figure it up in my head after the low fuel light comes on that i have min 60 more miles to go before i better find a fuel station. anywho sorry i can't answer your question but thought i'd share my saltiness for the "small" 26 gallon tank also.

I am 23000 miles into my 2018 and when I fill up the tank it gives me a range on the computer usually around 420-425 miles...However, on one highway trip, I got stuck in between towns and drove 478 miles before fuel - computer give you an extra buffer...I also read that the fuel pump accounts for 7-8 of those 38 gallons?

SR5 package has the 38 gallon tank It doesn't work that way. I have a 2017 SR5, and it has a 26 gallon tank. It has a bench seat for a total of 6 passengers. If you get an SR5 with bucket seats, which seats 5, you get 38 gallons. Same as I posted above.

I had a 2012 Tundra Platinum with the 26g tank. In 2016 I traded in for a 1794 with the 38g tank.
What an amazing difference. It's not just the tank (which was absolutely mandatory for me) - the suspension, transmission, seats - the whole truck simply rides better across the board.
Back to gas though: I could barely get 275 miles a tank on my 2012. My 2016 I managed a 600 mile non-stop (all highway) with two motorcycles in the bed and multiple 550-575 mile non-stops. Granted, my buddy and I were sweating bullets on that 600 mile run. I think we hit 36.5g on that fill up. (*we had 10g of gas in the bikes so it wasn't like we were going to be stranded).
My low fuel light goes on with 10g remaining in the tank now...usually around 425-450 miles on the clock.
There is no question to me: get the big tank. It's a total game changer for the Tundra.

2017 SR5 TRD Double Cab (not a crew) with front bucket seating. Bench rear. 26gal tank. Easily get 425 miles between fill ups.

Can one go to "Take-a-Part" or similar and procure a tank?
Ya know one has been totaled with the tank in like new condition.
Will it fit, filler line up?
Will the sender/ fuel gauge all that other interconnected electronic wizardry synchronize.
Are there any safety/other issues?

True. I just bought a 2019 SR5 DC in December. Ordered it with the factory tow mirrors. Nice truck!
