I'm thinking of putting my 336A .30-30 up for sale, as I've inherited a Winchester 94 in the same caliber from my father and I don't really shoot the 336A anymore. This is the 336 with the 24 inch barrel and the 2/3 length magazine. The rifle dates from the 1950s (1954, if I recall correctly). The rifle is in about 97% condition - some very minor bluing wear and tiny hunting dings on the stock. It has a newer Williams 5D peep sight, but I still have the rear sight and sight elevator. I'd like to get fair value for it, but I'm not looking to make a fortune.

So, what's a reasonable asking/sale price? I haven't found a comparable one on the auction web sites, which is how I usually price stuff I'm trying to sell.

Thanks.

I would imagine $600 would be about what you are looking at.

Unless the weaver sight is collectible.

Your rife will bring more $$$ in certain parts of the country yet $600.00 in the condition your state is about right. A .35 rem would bring more.

Marlin fans like those 24 inch barrels. I have four 336As - two in 30-30, one in 32 Special and one in 35 Remington. All are original/ unmolested except two (one of the 30-30s and the 35 rem.) have replacement butt plates. The originals were broken. Not an uncommon problem.

Unfortunately...I've seen some clean 1950's 336A 30-30's just sit on GB for weeks at 500ish area, and even under in the past year.

I've seen 35 REM just sit too. It depends on how much somebody wants one "at the time it's listed", and if they are tired of waiting and will accept the condition it's in.

I bought a ratty one in 35 Remington for $550 about 10 years ago. I probably overpaid, but as the last posted said, "I had to have it."

Too new to be a waffle top and one year before they were factory D&T but value goes to hell if it's drilled and tapped ...sounds like yours has survived Bubba. The long barrel, short tube is the most desirable (to others, not me) and .35 Rem brings an extra Benjamin over a .30-30. 32's are pretty rare in comparison. I paid $500 or $550 for my '51 336RC (waffle top 20" barrel and full tube) in .30-30 a year or two ago so $600 sounds right. The Williams sight (not Weaver) will not increase the value as most "serious" collectors disregard any aluminum sight. A vintage steel Lyman or Redfield receiver sight can add another Benjamin.

I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.
