Can the standard Marlin 336 .30-30 be converted to .375 Win? Is this an expensive conversion? Does this require rebarreling, or is there enough meat in the .30 cal barrel to rebore to .375?

Thanks,
Expat

Yep, follow that link.

Relatively cheap way to go about it too.

There are Marlins in .375win that show up for sale somewhat regularly on GunBroker as well if that interests you.

The conversion by JES may be more than that, depending. I had him convert a .30-30 to .444 in December. Cost was $325 due to need to open up the ejection port and modify the lifter and loading gate. It came out very well. I don't know if the .375 case would require the same mods at the added cost.

The 375 Win (or the 38-55) is just a straight walled 30-30 case so it is just a rebore-rechamber and no other mods unless you request something different. Do a 38-55 and get to use the 2.125" case for a bit more ballistics...but request the standard .375" bore NOT the .376-.378" and you won't have any problems finding bullets.

This is maybe a better idea than .35-30. Rusty

Got a friend that had a single shot 30-30 and had it bored to a 375 Win. The reason..... In Louisiana you can deer hunt with a .35 caliber or larger, breech loading, single shot rifle, with exposed hammer, during the primitive weapon season.
