So, NZ is probably going to ban semiauto firearms very quickly which will stir up the gun control fanatics in this country even more so than normal, with many states already considering such actions, along with background checks for ammo, 20 rounds of ammo per month etc etc. I think in the coming month or two we are going to see some VERY draconian measures proposed and many of them will get passed.
With that, is it time for another panicky run on AR's, .22 ammo, primers and powder and so forth, like we have seen in the not too distant pass, will fear motivate another desperate session of hoarding?
What do you think?

It's never time not to. The mad rush is the best time to back off from hoarding... Let the idiots fight it out and pay through the nose..

The Deep State will throw everything including the kitchen sink at Donald Trump next year, if he wins again it will only be a reprieve from the wrath coming at gun owners in January/2025. Warning: dates on calendar are closer than they appear. So, yes, stock up like your life depends on it.

I am sure that the dealers are greatly in favor of all-out panic buying.

I think it's the obligation of every responsible citizen to try and reduce panic.
Not accentuate it.

I don't need to stock up. I did some before Obama was sworn in for his first term and more after the prices dropped and the panic was over. If our house catches fire, RUN!!!

The AR market is pretty well saturated. There were so many "scares" during the Obama administration that even the San Bernardino and Parkland shootings didn't cause much of blip in the market. The best thing to keep in mind, if anything happens, is that no matter what somebody proposes, if you didn't need it last week, then you probably don't need it this week. Don't get talked into overspending on something "just because". If you have 10-20 Magpul mags now, you don't need to buy 30 more overpriced ones just because something might happen.

I learned my lesson back in the 1990's during the Clinton administration. Not that it was as bad as during Obama's reign but I figured out that it can't hurt to have a good stock of stuff on hand. Stuff like .22's I write the purchase date on with a sharpie and use the oldest stuff first. With all the screaming about ammo I'm afraid mail order reloading components are gonna become history one of these days.

On another forum that I'm a member of, people are always saying "I buy guns in weird calibers because you can always find those calibers when times get tight". I always reply "If you spent all that money that you spent on oddball caliber guns and ammo, and spent it on 22LR, 9mm, 45, 223, 308 and other staples, you'd have enough stock on hand to tide you over the tough times. They still don't get it. It normally revolves around them buying 40, even though they mainly have 9mm. For the price of even a Glock 22, you can buy an awful lot of 9mm FMJ.

I am ordering another couple cases of SK+ .22 ammo, and some primers. Got plenty of everything else, enough for the rest of my life and part of someone elses. My AR went overboard in the middle of Boysen Reservoir during that unfortunate canoe accident I told you about last year.

I picked up 5k Remingtons last week. They’re not my bullet of choice, but they were on sale for $15/500. Too good of a deal to pass up.

It's never time not to. The mad rush is the best time to back off from hoarding... Let the idiots fight it out and pay through the nose.. Exactly. I saw this coming during the Clintoon years and have been stockpiling accordingly. I feel vindicated because things aren't getting any better. Events seem to be accelerating. The Enemy has tipped their hand and we're closer to the approaching battlefield than we ever have been since 1861.
