A couple questions on Weatherby Rifles and Cartridges. I'm getting interested in 6.5-300 as a hunting rifle.

1. Anyone running a weatherby LH model? If so which one and how do you like the fit of the stock? I don't have easy access to LH Wby rifles to shoulder them up.

2. If you are a LH shooter and running a RH weatherby, which model and with which stock? It doesn't seem like there are many options for aftermarket stocks, even for the RH guns. I saw a Manners on stockys website but it was SA only.

3. Anyone with experience rebarreling R700s to Weatherby cartridges and are they any specific drawbacks based on brass geometry? I have an R700 LH L/A mag bolt face and it seems a good 6.5 barrel could be a less expensive way to get what I want without spending Mark V money for a LH rifle.

I am a weatherby guy and own 4 leftys now. My latest is the 6.5 in an ultralight. Weebees are a "fullsize" rifle. They recently slimmed down their stocks a bit but they still fill your hand. If you are a smaller dude the rifle may seem large. I like the feel myself. They are quality built. I really like the short bolt lift. The biggest problem with weatherbys is they can be finicky to group. Many shoot very well as they are but others require tuning. I own a 257 accumark which I bought used. It was glass bedded when I bought it and is one of the most accurate guns I own. I was a little nervous buying the hot shot 6.5 with a skinny little ultralight barrel. It has proven to be a .75" rig with factory ammo though. Owning a weatherby isn't for everyone but bring one to hunt camp and others will be jealous!

I wish they would come out with an Ultra lightweight or any fiberglass model for that matter in 270 Weatherby Magnum. I would be all over that, have dies waiting here already too.

^^^^^^^^ The 270 Roy is an exceptional cartridge! My MK V Deluxe fits me just fine and is beyond comfortable for me.
