I have been busy of late and saw this Rifle Tuesday (March 26th) it was new at the shop that day there in my local pawn/sport shop. I did get through the shop for a moment Saturday (March 30th) and the Rifle is still there.
It is a Browning Model 71 in 348 Winchester. It is the carbine model and is in pristine condition!
I looked at it hands on on Tuesday and could see nary an imperfection on the whole gun - I would describe it as minty!
The asking price (it is on consignment there) is $700.00.
I am not up on lever guns much so I do not know if this is a "good deal" or not.
The Blue Book of Gun Values seems to think so as they value a 100% gun like this at $875.00.
This Rifle is the standard model (Grade 1) and the only sign of any use is someone added a receiver sight to it - does this sight use factory drilled "holes"? I am uncertain.
It does have "Super-Grade" style swivels and the loading port nor the muzzle show ANY blue wear at all.
The "Blue Book" relays this Rifle was made from 1986 to 1987 only and 4,000 total were made.
I don't know who owns the Rifle but I thought if it tempted me maybe someone on the fire would also be interested.
Anyway if I can answer any questions or assist you let me know.
I do not know who owns this Rifle and have no connection with the shop or the guns owner.
The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and their number is 1-406-683-9844.
Good luck if you need one.

Angus1895: Indeed it is in the local pawn/sport shop here in Dillon, Montana.
Let me know if I can assist further.
Do you know if the Browning Model 71's were drilled and tapped for a receiver sight from the factory?
I am headed thataway tomorrow morning if i can be of anymore assistance.

EdM: Thank you for that information.
There is a Williams receiver sight on this Rifle along with its original barrel mounted sight as well.
I misspoke (mis-remembered!) when I said it had "Super Grade" style swivels they are the standard quick detachable type in factory studs - verified that today.
The Rifle was still there at 2:30 P.M. M.S.T. this date (4/2/19).
What a cool gun.
I have owned many Model 71's (original Winchesters) in the past, both Standard and Deluxe models but I never fired any of mine!
Just bought and sold them for profit eventually.
Those last 3 shots (#4, #5 & #6) are very impressive indeed.
Good for you and the Rifle.
Now I am thinking maybe I need a "brush Elk" Rifle or a Spring Bear Rifle?

THIS.... I have looked at this thread 5 times today hoping someone bought it. Great price, but I just have no need for that big of a caliber... I had an original 1956 model couple of years back... a real THUMPER on both ends

Yes, it's a good deal. Browning got Miroku to build them right. I have a carbine one, along with an old full size Winchester 71 Deluxe.

I'm reading that three manufacturers are making .348 Winchester cartridges now, though I don't know and have doubts how long that will last.

I bought one new when they first came out. It's a nice appearing carbine, that I always wanted (for some unknown reason). Had a receiver sight screwed on, as it was factory drilled and tapped. Took it to the range with some handloads, and found it shot fairly miserably, and the lever popped open at each shot. Thinking (dangerous thing, that) that the recoil was knocking the lever against my hand causing it to open slightly, I loaded some more and tried again, with the same result, placed it the safe and lost interest. Twenty or so years later, I found it again and decided to have it looked at, so sent it to Midwest Gun Works, who had bought out Browning's parts. Turned out the locking bars were defective, so they fitted a new pair, and tested it for function. Cost $126.00 parts and shipping. It didn't pop open when shot, but accuracy was, well, like an old iron sighted carbine. Noticed that it copper fouled badly in two grooves, so cleaned with BoreTech Copper Remover, and tried again. Same result. In the mean time I cornered the market on Winchester .348 brass for another rifle, and will return to this one someday before I croak. Thinking maybe the barrel could use replacing, or lapping, or just shooting it as is and stop being so finicky. Then again that other rifle is a Siamese Mauser chambered for the .35-348 Winchester Ackley Improved, hmm, maybe - nah, I'll just stuff it back in the safe and leave well enough alone.
