I’m thinking about putting one of these together as a deer and antelope gun for out to 600 yards or so. I was looking at doing a 22 creedmoor, but I can throw together a 22 Grendel upper for a quarter the cost. I realize there is a lot less powder room, but it looks like I can push the 90gr Bergers and 95 smks to 2800-2850 from a 24” barrel with temp stable powder. I should also get a lot more barrel life.

Has anyone played with one of these? Thoughts, experiences?

I only shoot (1) Kreedmire and (3) 224 Grendels.

In a Krunchenticker,pass the 88 ELD at 2800fps from a 20" Rifle Gas platform.

Hint...………...

88elds look impressive on paper, but I have concerns about hitting a shoulder bone with one. Has anyone shot a deer in the shoulder and seen what happened?

Big Stick, what powder are you using?

I have used it a bit but with the G2 pattern it's now easier to just use the SR-25 pattern 2.800" mags and bigger rounds.

Ran 18 inch barrels and 75gr AMAXs @ 3000fps.

18 inch barrels need middy gas so unlocking pressure is high.

It might run on Rifle +2 gas at 22 inches.

Overall for what I do the G2 pattern in 6MM CM is better and you get the smooth feeding PMAGs.

At only 3000 fps its not that much over 223 with a good load for 75 amax out of a 20 inch tube isn't but about 200 fps behind that. But then again it always depends on what you are doing, but I could see going straight to the bigger platform being a better thing, though I never have cared for the 25 platform for some reason that much.

With the new Remington/DPMS G2 pattern there is very little difference in weight and handling to use the bigger SR-25 magazine.

AR-15 in 5.56 on the left and G2 in 6.5MM Creedmoor on the right.

Pretty much identical setups and the G2 weighs 4 oz more than the AR-15.

I have everything except dies and a barrel for the 22 Grendel.

John, what kind of accuracy were you getting out of the 75amax combo and what powder/primer were you using? Are you confident it would punch through a shoulder?

How are your G2 set ups shooting?
You have me thinking about a 22 creedmoor in a G2 now.

I ran into this guy on the Instagram. He seems to think enough of the cartridge that he started a web business around it.

Have only shot a single group at paper and went right to gunning come-ups. That was prior to building it's dedicated lower, later that day.

Less than (10rds) through the Virgin spout and still laying moly down.

I shoot 75 ELD's at 3150fps in my other 224 Grendels,of lesser RPM...all of which are 20" spouts

Hint.............

Cumsincowboy's,

Your sheer and utter CLUELESSNESS...never disappoints. Hint. Congratulations?!?

The Nuzzler is an easy pass on brass "quality" alone, before one even gets close to mechanics. Hint.

Pass the lapooey and hold the fluff, which squarely includes the Norma Dog Schit.

Hint.

Bless your heart for trying though.

Laughing!....................

A friend is tearing up the competition in Registered F class competition shooting 75g Bergers at 3400 in long barrel, lapua brass of course. Friend will not tell particulars with the loads but sub 2" groups at 600 yards is taking all the trophies. The friend has shot a few 3/4" and 1" groups at 600, and he had rather trade off his wife than give load particulars. There is no way to know if his claim of 3400 with the 75's is accurate or not. He is doing very well considering he is a very old fat man!
