I love my 2 S&W model 29s. And i shoot them pretty well.
But i am a few weeks short of 60, and my eyes don,t work like in my younger days. So, i am thinking i might like Either a Redhawk, with Rings or Bisley Hunter.
Anybody tried one of these with a scope ! I think i would go with a 1X4 variable, I bet with a rest paper plates at 100 yards get easy with a rest and a bit if practice ?
Anybody tried it ?

I have a 2x in rings for mine around somewhere, haven’t had it on in forever. But yes, from a rest it makes hits past 50 yards easier.

My Bisley hunter is in 41 mag and I use a 2x20 Nikon Monarch. It will keep six in a six inch square at 130 yds from a rest. The load is 210 gr XTP over 21 gr H110.

I have a 2-6x32 scope on a 17 HMR Savage Striker. I find that anything over 2X is usable only with a bipod or sand bags.

Nice. That must be pushing 1600 at the muzzle.

I am long way from my notes right now, but I think close to 1400.

Yes i would definitely want some sort of rest when using a scope set on 4 power. But i want the 1 power for quick shots, and i think its the best way to practice fundamentals

Have had three of the Hunters...

Redhawk 7.5" .44 Magnum with 4X Leupold

Super Blackhawk .41 Magnum with 4X Leupold

Bisley Blackhawk .41 Magnum

You may also want to check out the Super Redhawk...pick the one that fits your hand best...

As to scopes, I had mainly 4X Leupolds on mine but found that for hunting in the woods the shots were generally well under 50 yards and ended up switching to 2X Leupolds. I do have a 2-6X Bushnell on a S&W 57 8 3/8" and really like the setup....

ps...Also have a Single-Six Hunter in .22/.22 Magnum and it is extremely accurate...and a great plinker...
