I've got a Rock Creek barreled 8mm mag that puts 200 gr Partitions into half inch groups at 100 yds, and I put three into 0.4 inch at 200 yds when verifying my zero for an elk hunt. I shot a 320" bull on that hunt at 450 yds.

I've killed several whitetails with it including my best, a 144" 9 pt. I've also taken 3 black bears with it including a 6 ft platinum blonde bear that got me an article in Bear Hunting magazine.

Cutting Edge bullets makes a 225 gr bullet that will work with the standard 1 in 10" twist and has a G1 BC of .640. I'm going to try them out when I have the time and money.

No Ken. At the time I was doing load development for the elk hunt, I wasn't aware the Swift AFrames were available in 200 or 220.
Maybe they were but I didn't know it. That was a long time ago.

I know their rep now and it's an interesting possibility. Since I'm not looking to 'shoot 600-1000 yds' like J Burns,
I'm looking for a bullet to stay together up close and personal. The S A Fs will do that I know.
And you and I know the N P performs as advertised.

WOW, I can't imagine leaving any gun behind at a range. That's some kind of distraction or a Dip Stick like some others.

Yup,the NP's are never a bad choice.

The Swift's would be a great choice if you ever get an elk tag or come out west for an elk hunt.

AHHHH, there you are. I knew there was 'some' member here that had an 8 Mag. YOU are the one I was trying to remember.

I did NOT know you were that DEEP in .323s. grin

yes, depending on HOW you shoot one.

A friend shot mine a few times over the chrono. He went home and kicked back to relax. When he 'started' to get up..... he couldn't.
His arthritis was inflamed from shooting it. He was trying to STOP the recoil instead of rocking with it. TRUE story.

Well I have one in a wood stocked Remington 700 BDL. Maybe someday I will get drawn for a Delta or Chitina Bison. Big Stick. You should have one just out of principle that its the perfect rifle and caliber for thumping bison.

Jerry and other interested parties; I used the 200 grain A-Frame in my .325 WSM and it performed without complaint or concern on critters up to and including eland. Accurate and performed as expected; good expansion and deep penetration. If it fits within the parameters of your planned hunt and style of hunting use it without concern.

Best wishes to all.

I've had an 8mm mag and still have a .325 WSM. The 220gr Weldcore is the bullet as far as I'm concerned. The 200 and 220 A-Frames are good too, but they develop more pressure at lower velocity than the Weldcores of the same weight, and the Weldcores retain weight pretty well.

I'll have the .325 on this year's elk hunt, but it's probably the backup rifle in favor of a 7mm WSM.

One of Craig Boddington's favorites. He used it to take his Mountain Nyala with it. I personally don't care for it and the caliber was/is hampered by poor bullet choices.

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
