So here's the deal:

I have a pristine MKIV/Series 70 slide, but I need a frame.

Found a complete 1911 today, good frame.

The slide, also a Series 70, however, is sightless and has 5, yes five, count em 5 holes drilled in the top of the slide to where a scope mount used to be.....

Question.......... Can the slide be salvaged by welding up those holes......... or some other process, that will not 'show'????

No welding, it will probably show after finishing if blued. Countersink the screw holes and fit screws with a proud head that fits the countersink. Peen lightly to swage them out to a tight fit. File and polish and then reblue. The countersink and the screw having a head is imperative, otherwise you’ll have half a thread showing at each hole. I can take pics of a receiver I’ve filled scope base holes on and you won’t be able to tell it was ever drilled.
