Impressive fellow!

Looks like he found plenty of gut piles last fall, and had a nice winter's sleep.

It's not early tho - some south slope Brooks Range bears are already out most likely. They have been in past years when we were living in Kotzebue.

Edit to add - and this year was warmer. People going thru spring ice left and right. 5 in Bethel area so far, 3 recently in Noatak. Dead.

So I'm certain bears are out also.

That’s a big bear. Not sure I would want to run in to him in the mountains.

Fugg that $€hit. I wouldn’t want that monster roaming around the same woods as me. He’d make a damn fine rug though.

That was my thought as well. Must be a lot of elk for him to have put on that kind of weight. I can understand a bear that has a smorgasbord of salmon to eat but those “blue collar grizzlies” gotta work for their supper.

Looks like Shrap's been feeding that guy for a couple years. They're probably at the kitchen table playing Texas hold'em until the game starts.

Shrap, Is Hebgen Lake open yet? If so, the campers at Rainbow Point Campground may get a very big visitor when his winterkill is gone!

Nice picture by the way! Is your window rolled up? grin:

Most of the Yellowstone grizzlies live on elk and bison. They take them from the wolves after a pack makes a kill.

There are a lot of wolves in Yellowstone. Lots of grizz, too.
