Anyone use one? Reliability? Accuracy? Finicky?

I have one in 22 mag and its been great, though it doesn't get used much. Always thought the 17hmr version would be fun as well. I ran across one for $249. Several marks in the barrel's finish and the bottom 1/2" of the heel of the laminated stock has been chipped off.

I know there was a recall, but I'm pretty sure many people use theirs as is in 17.

What say you?

I have one and shoot it all the time. Great gun, never jams, and is real hell on possums and skunks.

I shoot the 20 grain hornady game points exclusively.

I never worry about an out of battery firing, I don't know why.

There's a decent chance of it experiencing a KABOOM. A lot of people want to believe that if you clean it religiously, it won't blow but that only eliminates ONE possible cause. I once sold one that the customer brought back that blew the magazine to pieces on the third shot. The chamber was immaculate.

The pressure curve of the 17 HMR is such that in a blowback action it's on the ragged edge. There's a reason Remington recalled and stopped making them and Savage designed a delayed blowback action to handle it in the A17.

I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. Life is too short to deal with rifles that explosively disassemble themselves.

On the other hand, buy it & send it back to Remington, and I'd bet they'd change it over to a 22 Magnum for you. That's what they did with them in the recall, which I'd imagine is still active.

While it's true that all liberals are crazy people, not all crazy people are liberals.
