I can find scope mounts for the high wall model ....are they the same?.....but can't find mounts for the low wall. Mine is a .17 HMR low wall.....

Can someone point me in the right direction for this piece of hardware.....

They usually come with the rifle. Talley makes a nice quarter rib base for their rings. Conetrol made a two piece base set for their rings.S&K lists them but I have not seen a pair but am tempted to try them. What I really would like is to pair the Talley base with the S&K or Conetrol rings. There are others you may want to post this in the single shot section, those guys are probably more up on the available options than I am.

I used Burris standard two-piece on my Hornet with Signature rings (inserts). Standards are widely reviled, but 've never had an issue with mine with rifles up to .270. These have been untouched since about 2000.

The first set I ordered were Leupold, but either they mis-packaged them or I futzed up, but they didn't fit. Suspect the ones I received were for a High Wall.

vapodog-

For my USRA Model 1885 I used two-piece Weaver bases with Weaver rings. I had my gunsmith mill the bottom of the front base to fit the contour of the octagon barrel.

I also used Burris standard two-piece on my Hornet. Website I ordered from them was sort of confusing, so I ordered a set of High Wall as well. They're definitely different.

I believe I read somewhere that the Browning marked bases were the same as the Burris.

Talley makes a great base and ring combo for the current production low wall 1885's with the light weight octagon barrels. Those bases will not fit some of the earlier low wall models with a heavier barrel. The Talley one piece bases for the low wall and high wall are much different; the hole spacing is not the same and they are made for different barrel contours.

vapodog el al.-

I just recalled thaI ten years ago on a thread about old scopes I had posted an image of my Low-Wall. It shows the Weaver mounts holding a Lyman Alaskan on which has been installed a Litschert attachment.

Let me know if more detail might be helpful.

I have the Talley base and rings on my Low Wall .260.
They work and look great, but there is enough mis-alignment that my Leupold 2x7 was maxed out in windage adjustment.
I replaced that scope with the same brand 3x9 that has more adjustment and all is well now.

I’ve used and prefer the Redfield standard bases with the windage adjustment on a lot of other rifles.
Those mounts allow one to bore sight a new scope and retain all the windage internal adjustments on center.
That, in turn, allows for more scope choices for these petite rifles.

I know some folks don’t care for the windage adjustable base, and that’s just fine.
I’ve personally had them on rifles for over 50 years now and never, ever had an issue of any kind with them.

If I could find a set of the Browning/Burris bases for my Low Wall, Id be very tempted to buy them......

Blacktail, I think I have a set. Send me a pm and lets discuss. If I have them, you are welcome to them for the price of shipping.
