Good afternoon all.
Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of looking up a serial number? I have a single shot and would like to find out more about it.

Thank you,
Tallmadge

If the rifle was made after 1921 and you want to find the exact date of manufacture there is a three letter/number date code on the left side of the barrel near the receiver. This website will help decipher that for you - scroll down a bit to get to the date stuff. It also has some links for serial numbers as well but if that doesn't answer your question then Remington customer service would be the folks to call for serial number inquiries.

Just out of curiosity, what model is it?

There is no model #. Just a serial # where it was manufactured and patented in 1908

Many of the less expensive single shot .22s won't have an actual serial number--they were not required until 1968 and even Remington and Winchester often just skipped that step for economy's sake on their economy models.

Was Mike Armstrong. Got logged off; couldn't log back on. RE-registered my old call sign, Mesa.

I will be calling Remington customer service Monday and see what they say. It is a type of rolling block design that I am not familiar with.

Spring-loaded breechblock with a thumbstud on the side? If memory serves (!), those are Model 6s.

Could be, it seems to be missing the thumbstud but there is a hole going through the block where something could attach. The rifle belonged to my father. I have never seen it until a few days ago, my mother wanted all his guns removed from the house after he passed. It could use a going through from a gunsmith.

Recieved info back from Remington customer service. I miss read the patent date, it was not 1908 but 1902.
It is a model 6 although they said number 6 and it was made in 1903 and is a rolling block. This is what I find difficult to understand is that "there was no more information to be found"

Thank you all for the information and direction to help me locate this at least this much.

I looked through some Remingtons in the safe. I found an No 4 and a No 6.
