Information on your priorities would no doubt be very helpful.

Information on your priorities would no doubt be very helpful. Climate, cost of housing, low density of illegals, high density of conservative patriots. Happy Trails

Ok you can come, but you have to kick out 2 liberals.
Anywhere in the southern half you will have illegals but better climate. Up north is the opposite. If it were just me, I'd look north of Grangeville, South of Moscow. You do give up some climate, but living is better. When I win the lottery, I plan on buying Sandpoint.

Idaho has some great wolf hunting.

Where are the muzzies concentrated in Idaho? There are a few in the Twin Falls area, mostly thanks to Chobani. They employ a bunch of refugees. Nowhere do we have the problems of some of the big cities, though. Back to the question: Idaho varies greatly. In the south you have the Snake River plain which is a lot of high desert. Desert, but not nearly as dry as deserts farther south. Lots of sagebrush. Almost all of the larger towns in the state are in the plain. It's a lot greener as you go north. The mountains start on the north edge of the plain and continue into Canada. There's also a narrow band of mountains south of the plain. The highest ones are fairly well south but the northern mountain are plenty rugged enough to make any adventurers happy. It's wetter and greener in the north. While the south has lots of large reservoirs, the large lakes are all in the north. Elk are scattered all over the state. In the south, tags are mostly by draw. OTC tags are available mostly in the northern units. Mostly mule deer in the south, whitetails in the north, with lots of crossover. If you become a resident, wolf tags are only $11 and you can buy 5 of them a year. About $35 each for non-residents. 60% of Idaho is public land and it's all open for hunting. That's approx. 50,000 square miles. Idaho doesn't have a point system on draw tags. Every year you have an equal chance with everyone else. Like to hike? Idaho's Centennial Trail runs from NV to Canada, 900 miles worth of it, and it covers some of the most rugged parts of the state. While it's less than half the length of the AT, it's all in 1 state, you can pack a concealed weapon without a permit (residents only) and has a 7100' elevation variation.

I have lived in Meridian, Boise, Ketchum, Moscow, and Coeur d' Alene. I would choose the Riggins area if I was moving and didn't have to find a good paying job...
