The Montana Big Game General Rifle Hunting Season closing date traditionally ends on "the Sunday after Thanksgiving", every year.
Every 7 or 8 years it ends on the latest possible date - this year, is that year, and the closing date is December 1st 2,019!
For those of us that use Hunt areas where the onset of winter weather aids or Hunting this may be very good news.
Last year, for instance the general Elk season ended on November 25th!
Just a heads up to for those doing some planning.
This later closure may very well help us "bag a big one"?
This later closing date may also aid Deer Hunters as well by being so deep into the rut this year.
Just a heads up - plan accordingly.
Good luck to all.

Now you tell me! In January I re-booked my Kodiak Sitka Blacktail deer hunt to start on Dec 1st. I guess my Montana deer and elk season will have to end just before Thanksgiving, like it does every other year.

One exception to that is area 393, where Bull season closes November 24. I hope hunters read the regs. and obey the laws in this area.

Buffybr: I have been to Kodiak Island twice on fishing adventures and had time to do a little exploring by vehicle (not many roads there!). I envy you and your upcoming Deer Hunt there.

RMerta & Pretorian814: Good luck in the draws!
I came through the Bitterroot Valley last evening and saw several herds of Elk on the east side of the valley, then near Sula I was treated to seeing a herd of Bighorn Sheep!
Again good luck.

This isn’t a Craigslist ad. You obviously are from Nigeria hoping to fool someone into sending you some money. You need to try a different approach...

Shrapnel: Thank you for the explanation - no I did not see any suspicious African Prince type posts.
Thank goodness YOU are alright, then.
