What power do you think fits this rifle? MK V Bee and shoots really well.
Deer and elk gun.

Ask 10 guys, probably get 10 answers...

Elk makes a good point for the 3.5-10.

What you want to spend is a major concern.

A "bee" fan like you may like one of those retro Wby scopes ole Roy sold years ago. Never handled one, probably not as good as current glass, but what nostalgia for a purist... cool

No reason to get torn up , they will all work for deer and elk. I was going to say nightforce shv 3-10x42 but I really do not like the mounting tube length on those for a long action. I have one on a Tikka and like it though.

My .300 Bee has a Leupold 3.5x10 and I have no want for any higher power.

That scope definitely for a SA, not a LA unless you want to use a rail. I don't like rails on hunting rifles.

Here's one on a SA M-700. You can see, it fits nicely. but wouldn't work on a LA. Otherwise, it's a great scope, good glass and tough.

Conquest 3-9x40 on Rem 700 LA...

Meopta Meopro 3-9x40 about the same.

Plenty of room.

My Mk V Lazer Mark wore a 4-12x40 Redfield Revolution but I recently upgraded it to a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10X40. However, I haven't shot it with the new scope yet. I guess the proof is in the pudding and the pudding hasn't been tried yet.

I run a 2-12 VX-6 on my 300 Weatherby. In fact, I use the same model on about everything where big game is involved. Compact for carrying, illuminated if I need it, adequate glass for my needs/eyes.

I have a couple of those on LA rifles. I like them.

Am concerned about reports of issues with them, although they’ve been stellar for me.

I have had exactly the same phobia, but it hasn't come to pass. All the chatter has made me worry about failure and think about replacing them. In several years on several thumpers they've been just fine. I'm not a turret twister, though.

The few vx6's I played with were junk. Not the HD models!

Not to be a smart ass or anything, just curious because I have two hunting rifles with rails, but why don't you like rails on hunting guns?

Aesthetics. Just the way they look.

Functionally, nothing wrong with rails.

You may have decided already but I’ll give my 2 cents. Because you don’t have a light-weight rifle to begin with and because that case with a good BC bullet can kill your game way out there (depends on your philosophy), I’d go with an optic you can twist an elev turret on. That requires dependability which usually equates to a very sturdy build and some more weight — in the high 20’s+ oz realm. Look to the NF offerings. IMO, 10x-12x at the top though I’d consider the 14x-16x too if need be. But I shy from the > 50 mm obj’s for aesthetic reasons.

If you would not shoot beyond 500 yds, you might do well with any number of set’n forget scopes mentioned here in which case I forego anything above 10x power.

Of course, there are many right answers depending on your view. Pun intended.

Here is a couple 300 Weatherby’s. One has a 4.5x14x50 Leupold. I have the same for the other, haven’t had time to mount it yet.
Side focus models.
