Anybody been shooting anything lately? Learn anything new? Any new gear or guns?

Just got back from the range an hour ago...
Uberti Cattleman 4.75" .22 Long Rifle
Freedom Arms 97 6.5" .327 Federal
Ruger GP-100 MC 10mm

Must have been doing something right for one cylinder at 23 yards with the GP with 5 rounds into about 1.5" and the 6th round a few inches left... That was SA that I usually don't shoot as well as DA...

A couple of new ones in the last couple of weeks. Factory loads only so far in the P365 and handloads only in the EAA (10mm) - liking both so far. Started with 200 gr cast (Rimrock) in the 10mm with dismal results, but Power Pistol and 200 gr XTP's shot extremely well.

Taught an eight hour Defensive Pistol course yesterday.

Lots of fun! The shooters were good, and I'm starting to feel like a dinosaur, doing all my shooting with a 45 1911. ALL the shooters had various new, polymer frame 9mm's. Sigh...Yes a dinosaur. But I'm happy there.

My 20+ year old Kimber has 85,000 rounds through it. So, umm, no. Nothing new. But it was a fun, good course.

Regards, Guy

Last time out (last week), the 1911 in .45acp, Ruger MKIII, and SKS. Couple weeks before that, the Shield and the HiPower.

Son and I were out last weekend shooting several handguns. I got a Sig 365 a short while agto so I gave him my Kahr CW9. In addition to those two we also shot the S&W MP9 2.0, the SA XDs .45, SA XD9, and my SA 1911.
Shot a couple of dot drills but mostly plinking.
Since I got that S&W MP9 my previous full size favorite Sig 226 has't been out of the safe.
For the next outing I have 5 boxes of HST and GD 124 gr and 147 gr standard and +P to see what shoots best in the P365 and the MP 2.0.

Mainly my Glock 17, but recently took my Glock 21 out and shot it. First I shot it at 25 yards, and was shooting pie plate sized groups (fifty rounds). Then I set up one target at 7 yards, and one (to the right of it) at 15 yards, and started doing a drill where I pretended there were two threats who suddenly draw on me, three into the closest target fast, then three into the further one. Did this over an over for about 150 rounds. More than adequate groups considering the imitation high stress and quick shooting.

PS I had the range to myself, as usual, otherwise such drills would be a little more complicated, or not possible.

My Ruger MK III Target sees more use than anything.

Seems like I'm always shooting this or that with it. Given it a workout here lately.

There's really no telling how many animals I've taken with that. Hundreds.

I am really enjoying the Sig P365. It is a little gun that thinks it is a big one, and it is very easy to carry and hide IWB. I am trying to learn what Buffalo Bore hard cast and Lehigh Extreme Penetrators will do from it. I was extremely surprised to learn that factory Lehigh Xtreme Penetrators started out at an average of 1152 fps from the 3.1 inch barrel. More mixed media testing to follow. . . .

I got the boys' new 10/22 set up with a fiber optic front sight so it'll be a little quicker to pick up for steel challenge. It was short stroking with Federal Automatch so I clipped a few coils off the recoil / charging handle spring and it seems to be running better now.

I've got about a thousand rounds through the new Aimpoint ACRO now. For a duty / hard use optic it's definitely a winner. The glass is clearer than the Trijicon and doesn't have the weird blue tint to it. The emitter and lens it's projected onto is completely enclosed so fogging isn't as big of an issue to worry about. We've had it completely submerged for about ten minutes without any issues.

I handled the new Trijicon SRO. It's gonna be a flop except for the people who want something new or some guys shooting it in competition. For the tactical crowd an enclosed unit like the ACRO is going to be the new standard.

I won a Walther Q5 Match in a raffle and shot it in a match last weekend. It's pretty accurate, but I don't think I'll keep it. The large grip has a weird hump in it that just doesn't fit well and with the medium grip the recoil doesn't track very consistently. The trigger is kinda Glock-ish but a little longer and without much of a wall now that I've got some rounds through it. It just kinda pulls through like a revolver. Kinda.

We have been visiting my step daughter.. Little to shoot here in the way of varmints ... So mostly plinking with my pistols.. Shot my Glock 19 and 21 a bit during the first of our stay.. But the rest has been with my Ruger 4 5/8 44 mag.. the gp 100 mostly with .38 spls.. Also ran quite a few rounds though my .44 mountain gun.. Brought 3 .22's.. A kit gun with a 2 inch barrel, my old k-22 and a Ruger target M2 I think... Never fired around though the .22s.. Been thinking I need to shoot my 22s more.. Used to shoot them often.. Haven't really used them for a couple years..

1913-vintage Colt 1911, 1920-vintage Colt New Service .45 Colt, 1946-vintage Colt Woodsman. Old school fun for a vintage kind of guy!

I thought it was a Milt Sparks, but I've never had a Criterion. I think I would like it. I own several Executive Companions and Versa Maxes. I like the more radical forward cant on the Criterion.
