What are you guys shooting from? I normally use this bench with roller bearings on it. Then I used a Harris bipod to walk around and be mobile. For this year I got a Desmond carbon fiber tripod, Desmond ballhead, Kopfjager vise, and then a picatinny to swiss arca rail mount. I'm headed up to SD in a few weeks. bench by .com/photos/164884253N06/]CRE10 CRE10, on [bleep]

I used to use Harris bipods and they worked great. But age caused my to go another direction. The past 4-5 years I’ve used a Coyote Jakes shooting bench. I believe they were sold to another company. This is a bench with attached seat. The seat and bench top swivel independent of each other, 360 degrees. It’s the cats ass, in my view. I use a Caldwell adjustable front rest and rabbit ear rear bag. My brother has same set up. We set up 3-500 yards apart and shoot 360 degrees except toward each other. I shoot for an hour or two at a spot and then move several hundred yards and do it again. Usually I’ll try to park my truck over a hill out of sight. When I move locations, I’ll toss the bench in my truck, move to a fresh spot and grab a couple rifles and fire away. Going in ten days and can’t wait!

I’m envious! Haven’t been in 7 years. Have always used a Harris bipod, but getting up off the ground has definitely gotten harder with age. I’d probably have to find a different method too.
If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

Elevation is good when you can use the landscape as well. It is also handy to have the shooting bench that swivels 360 degrees, so you can shoot in all directions. It also helps to have plenty rifles, to keep a cool barrel...

Last outing I used a plastic "Lifetime" folding table and my regular benchrest front and rear rest. The plastic is slippery enough that I could slide it with the forend and move from target to target. Arizona PDs are in country with LOTS of brush. You need a spotter on 15s to clue you in. I rarely shoot beyond 350 yards. My favorite shooting was at 75-125 with my CZ 22 and Aguila Super Maximum ammo. My typical longer range rig is a heavy barrel Savage 22-250 using the old style blue meanies. I had to switch to 40 grain Vmax and Blitzkings when Barnes quit making them.

I like either a shooting mat from high power rifle competition or a scrap of carpeting. I usually tie a piece of twine for a handle.
