For you Spiegel 99 experts. Did they ever sell a Spiegel engraved 99T?? 378XXX is that in the serial number range? Or no such animal ever made?

Never seen one, or seen an ad featuring a T, but never say never. Serial number is in the correct range.

I came across it by accident. Its not mine. It belongs to somebody who's dad owned it and he isn't giving it up for sale. I asked if I could check to see if the serial numbers match, but he wouldn't let me near it. Since he doesn't know me from Adam I can understand that. It is an interesting gun to look at. I was just curious to see if anybody else here had seen one or heard of one. That all. Thanks for the input.

I have one in my data, 39x,xxx range. Owned by one of our more prominent collectors.

Does it have sling swivels or odd ball D&T?

Yep, yours is a 99EG like the rest of ours. As far as I remember, nobody has ever seen an ad for Spiegel where they were selling any model other than the EG with the special add ons.

Any other model could be an employee that got permission to roll stamp a T he was buying, or a customer that paid a bit extra, or lots of things.

There very well could be a T with the roll engravings. Both versions were made at the exact same time in the same building. It certainly is at least feasible.

I will take one in 250.

I'll arm wrestle you for it!

Nobody would dream it was factory, or better yet not have a clue as to what it is. "Yeah, my Pappy had it since '40 and kilt a few deers with it it. Then Uncle Bob took it on a hunting trip to Delaware oncet. Since then it it's sat in my Aunt Hepzabah's linen closet, but she took it out and fired a salute every July 4th until she couldn't find bullets for it at the hardware store anymores. Gimme a hunnert bucks for it and git it outta here. I need a new topper on my pickup."

I'd do a hunnert on it.

It’s not only that but nearly impossible to find. Probably less than a baker’s dozen made in that configuration.
