Some of you might recall the run of bad luck I had with a few orders coming up from the US. Some TC Contender woes, and a die problem. The last bit of bad luck was a 22 K Hornet die ordered from Brownells, but I received this instead. Brownells was quick to fix the mistake, but unfortunately, the 22 K Hornet die is a special order item, and I had to wait until they got another shipment.

Well, a few months later, and after returning the 6mm/250 imp body die, they have shipped my body die. smile

I am not angry with Brownells. It was not at fault. The box was mislabelled (a 22 K Hornet stock no. with a 6mm/250 imp die label). Their order pickers grabbed what they thought was the correct die. Just now, I got an email stating that the correct die has been mailed out. I haven't seen it yet, so the adventure isn't quite over.

Stay tuned.

Well, look what I got in the mail today from Brownells. They sent me another 6mm/250 imp 40 die! I have asked that they credit the money back to my card. I will source it from another store. How do you mess this up twice?

Steve,

Can you purchase directly from Redding?

Geno

PS, I know gun folks are loonies, but it would seem more sensible to me to neck down a 250-3000 to 6mm and improve it, then to go up from a 22-250. Then again, I figure things differently from some folks, or so I've been told as they roll their eyes.

I am going to check with them or just ask the guys at X Reload. I have been trying to get a 22 K Hornet die for months.

Good luck. Should I ever run across a Hornet I "need", I think the K improvement would be it's first adjustment.

I think the K Hornet is definitely the way to go.

I hope the reason why Brownells hasn't answered me after a couple of days is because they are investigating why they sent the same wrong die twice.

Brownells got back to me this morning. This is their response to the two wrong shipments.

Steve,

Thank you for the email and I do apologize for the inconvenience, I have sent this to the special order dept. We unfortunately don’t package them, but receive the product from the manufacturer. Once we get that back we will get credit issued back as well as the return shipping.

Thanks again,

Brownells is pointing the finger at Redding. Because of that, I contacted Redding, explained what happened, and asked how to get the proper die. Waiting to hear from them now.

I have also contacted X Reload in Montreal and asked if I can order a 22 K Hornet die. Waiting to hear from them as well.

Do you have 6mm/250 imp dies too? They must have too many! smile

Okay, I just finished talking with Redding. The fellow told me that the part no. on Brownell's site was wrong until recently. (Not recently corrected though!). This will get buried and forgotten, but if, just if you, or someone like you is looking for this die, Redding told me that the following is correct - Mfr Part: 75362.

The last couple of yrs it seems that bad luck and idiots have been drawn to me. It's like being in the military all over again. laugh

And this is a picture of an ostrich.

Update: Redding has offered to swap dies for me. This makes sense, as it is a special order item that Brownells would have received from Redding anyway.

So, the 6mm/250 goes home to Cortland, NY. I am waiting for an invoice from them to include with the die.

Steve, we have been notifying them of this repeatedly. If you’d like, and have not returned it to them, send it to me and I’ll get the correct die exchanged for you.

That's good service.

I don't know what to say about Brownells. I have dealt with them for many, many years and this is the first time I have had any difficulty with them. I will order from them in the future, but with trepidation.

Two Updates:

1. Redding has received my return, but that particular die is in queue for production and will not be available for a month or two. smile It looks like the end of July or early August and it will finally get here.

2. Update on Brownells: After much chest beating, emails, confusion, etc. they have finally changed the stock no. of the 22 K Hornet die on their web page.

Sounds like the Fat Lady might be warming up in the wings, but I have faith that something may still go awry. Luck like yours is tough to overcome!

I have to look at it this way, if nothing else, I helped future 22 K Hornet body die purchasers to get the proper product.

There's a rumour floating around that ammunition cases will be made without rims in the future. Like that will work... crazy

Hi TK. Thanks for the offer. I have dies, just missing the body die. I won't be needing that right away. I ended up resizing with the FL die included with the set.

I received this message earlier. It will be on its way Monday.

Steve,

Good news!!! The 22 K Hornet Body dies are done. I have one here on my desk ready to ship to you on Monday morning. My apologies for the hassle you have had getting this but hopefully thanks to your help as well we finally got this straightened out with Brownell’s.

Could be. I bet if you order a 22 K Hornet body die from Brownells, you'll still get a 6mm Improved die. smile
