Soooo,

I've had really good luck with 135 JLK's in both of my 6.5 SAUM rifles the past few years, so I just duped the load, and BTO over to the Hornady offering.

Shot three at 100 here at home to see where the POI was,(all good)and headed out to a buddies range out in the hills.

60*F, wind 10-15 from the NW, mostly a headwind, with some push right to left, no mirage. There is wind here 90% of the time.

Nice setup, with a target rich environment out to 1100 meters.

I've got another couple hundred to play with....so far so good.

FWIW, they were 2/10ths flatter than JLK's at 1000, at the same velocity.

Schit, I posted the same pic twice...…..8/10ths holdoff for these three.

Thanks for the report Pat...

Curious how they'll do on flesh but I can guess...grin...

Great shooting !

I'm seeing the same results. 5.7 at 1000 vs. 5.9 with JLK and very similar on the wind .1 to .2 less at 1000.

Going out to 1400 and 1700 to confirm BC tomorrow. IT's holding pretty true so far.

The local Sportsman's has the Sauer 100 rifles on sale in 6.5 PRC for $799? $899? something like that.

Is it worth getting a poor man's 6.5, or just save for the GAP?

If you have the funds... GAP is a no brainer.

If funds are part of the equation, I'd buy the Seekins Havoc. THink Cabelas has them back in stock. Havoc is production rifle that is basically a full custom.

Pat, are you shooting at those ranges without an “adjustable parallax” scope? Just wondering, as I have a zeiss, rapid - z 600 reticle, but it has no parallax adjustments so I am reluctant to use it at longer ranges.

That scope is set to be parallax free at 300 meters.....not adjustable. At 10X, and shooting long, there won't be any parallax problems. At least I've never felt handicapped, or noticed any.

It's probably more critical from 200 and in to have your eye centered up to take out parallax, than shooting at distance.

I run a few 10x SWFA's (w/ parallax adj) and I think the 4.2mm exit pupil does a lot to help keep me lined up square. I really like the 6x42 PMII (which I think is set to 100m)...I'd think the 10x would be very nice on an open country killing rifle.

The SB's are trite on erector latitude,in both 6 and 10x. Pard dumped parallax yesterday,to connect Beaver Dope up fhuqking CLOSE on a 6x MQ.

Hint.....................

Limited to one spin which is a little over 13 mils. It's enough for a fair poke.

I do love the 6x SWFA's parallax on a .22 for up close....and the extra erector latitude for not up close.
