I'm in the market for a 4 wheeler in the $6,000 price range. I've narrowed it down to either a Suzuki 500 without power steering or a can am 450 with power steering. They are both the same price.
I liked the way the can am drove a little better but I trust the Suzuki for reliability. I've never owned one so I don't know much about them. What way would you go and why?

Honda. Most reliable and will go about 10,000 miles with proper maintenance.

I'm a firm believer in anything made by Honda. This guy put 69,000 miles on a 50cc Honda scooter. http://lostwithmike.weebly.com/scoot

If those are your two choices I would take the Can-am. The Suzuki's are hard on Batteries and I have had to work on them more than other ATV's except the Polaris, It rates right at the bottom of the list. If I were buying another ATV again I would look really hard at either the Yamaha Grizzly or the Honda, depends on what you want to do with it. Yamaha's are built to play and Honda's are built to work. Your money, your choice.

The one with power steering.
Can Am's seem to be okay.
They are all okay anymore.
99% of youse will never use one as hard as me and I like Polaris.

Can-Am
I've always had Honda's and Yamaha's but in recent years a few of my friends have bought Can-Ams and when we ride together it's obvious they have more bike than I do.
The types that seem to like to push their limits for kicks on ATV's seem to favor Can-Ams as well.

Never owned a Can Am, but my kid had a Can Am quad and now has some 90 mph side-by-side. He likes the SxS but not the quad.
I'm running a 2007 Zuki 450 King Quad. Just put a starter in it after 12 years. That's been the extent of the non-routine maintenance. It does not have EPS. My next one WILL.

Like others have said, Honda or Yamaha are the BEST choices but if I had to chose from the 2 you listed, i'd go with the CanAm, that power steering option is a no brainer. .
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Honda Foreman. 12 years on mine and no trips to the shop. Only replaced the battery, then a fuggin rat chewed the corner of the new battery, but I digress. Buddy has over 14,000 miles on his older than mine. My rancher buddy has an old Bombardier/Can Am that I know must be 20 years old and still ticking. Other brands that the guys in camp have always seem to be hard to start or always fixing something broken. One needs to giddy up even in 0 weather. They need to start rather than walk several miles back to the cabin in the dark. Happy Trails

I have the cam am 450 with power steering. I have had a Suzuki 700 without. Spend a bit more and get a Suzuki with it.

they still sell quads ? Funny you should say that. Polaris dealer said they sell 10 side by sides for every quad.
