What is amazing to me is that people that fat can and do live out reasonably normal lifespans even if impaired and unhealthy ones. Had a relative that lived to be 78 who was big time morbidly obese her whole life. She lived to be 76 or so....probably spent the last 15 years of her life in the same chair. My Dad on the other hand was somewhat of a health nut who lived to be 81. He could do whatever he wanted up until the week he died which was huge even though he only lived a few years longer than the fatty.

I guess what I'm saying is that it really is amazing that someone that overweight can make it to and past middle age without one of the bodily systems failing.
