There are for sure some terribly wealthy farmers in the country.

My friend had to buy a Beechcraft with a turbo prop so he could build enough time in order to be able to fly wealthy Arizona farmers around in the winter.

He would fly their plane for them.

Outside from religion based jobs, there is no other profession aside from agriculture that you are expected to take a vow of poverty.

America would not tolerate profits and competition in ag.

It is what it is.

The smart money is to start moving away from the production model and move towards the profit model.

Jim, you've got a good point there.
there's much discussion about profits and production.
half the country/people have a negative net worth.
i could live without food stamps, some others could to.

Jim's just bull chitting you guys. I grew up working on farms, everyone had new trucks, new tractors with AC,heat, and radio's. Farmers used to only work a few months a year planting and harvesting then vacation the rest of the year. It's a pretty plush job. I'd still be doing it but the competition for those jobs and benefits was too much. It's really the easiest industry to get rich in.

Stfu.....

I would rather have my tax dollars go to help hard working farmers.
And force the fugging Chinese to lose this tariff war and come back to the table and eat some humble fugging pie.
And put the fugging schit back on a equal fair basis.

Your schitbyrd party has been sucking Chinese nut sacks for decades and they and their corparate minons are the ones who brought it all about.
Now all you fuggs are bent out of shape cause mean donnie is playing hardball and you bytches didnt get what you wanted out of the Mueller report.

LBJ and his skank ass bytch ladybird had alot of stock in helicoptor companies in his build up of the Vietnam war.
Good ole LBJ and his great society programs for votes.....
Didnt want ta activate more troops for Vietnam cause it would cut into his welfare for votes funds.....

Good ole LBJ putting Hanio and hiaphong harbor off limits to bombing
Good ole LBJ taking personal control of targeting list for bombing
You and fugging liberal socialist Democrats waste more money by making everyone pay for your welfare as a way of life type voters every fugging day.

You and all the other fuggtard liberal Socialist Democrat trolls on here need a fugging hard punch straight square in your fugging foreheads.
But it still wont knock an ounce of sense into any of you..

If you dont like our country
Die or get the fugg out........

Fuq off schytbyrd.........

I was against a bloated farm bill under Bush Sn, Clinton, Bush jr, Obama, and now The Donald.

Has that been true of you?

Seriously your inconsistency (or really consistent TDS) discredits areas I could otherwise agree with you on.

Cool, another $136 Billion and President Trump will have spent on Americans the same amount the Magic Negro spent on helping Iran develope nuclear weapons.

Food production is the obvious next step to control the population. Small family farm operations are going the way of the dodo. Buy local movement has put a kink in their plans to a small extent though. Golks are waking up to the value of fresh locally grown produce and meat.
I've never been without a large garden, growing up or after leaving the house. We've always bought half a beef and a hog from family or friends and had it butchered. We buy chicken at the store but eggs from the neighbor, and obviously supplement what we don't grow and preserve, but it's a lot less than a lot of folks for sure.

Once they have single payer health care, food will be next. It will be declared that food is a right and it should be provided free to everyone.

We know how well all the energy companies that Obongo sponsored went. We know how the illegal arms sales to the rebels in the ME went. We know how well the Arab Spring went. GFY GreyGhost and the horse you rode in on. You have no integrity, you are just a spoonfed liberal [bleep].

Are there "rich" farmers, who draw a ton of money from the government every year......sure there are. But, for every one of them, there are hundreds of smaller operators working their azz off to make ends meet.......and these are the farmers that put the majority of the food on the table for the people in this country.

I live in a county that has a number of these large farmers, who farm thousands of acres, and are on the USDA list of those who draw a lot of money in the form of subsidies. But, what most people don't realize about these farmers, and in a sense they are not farmers but businessmen, is that they could have easily gone broke and lost millions instead of staying in business and becoming wealthy. They took a risk and succeeded, something that many others could not do.

The US government has long had a policy of making sure that this country has a cheap and plentiful supply of food. If they are going to regulate the farmer, and if you own a farm or are a farmer, then you must deal with the USDA, you know what I'm talking about, then they must also be prepared to help the farmer out during the bad times. Most farmers here carry crop insurance, which is designed to help them in case of situations where they lost money on a crop for a variety of reasons. The government putting a tariff on Chinese goods, which results in a loss of a market for the farmers when China stops buying their crops, is as much of a disaster as is a drought or a flood. So, I have no problem with Trump helping the farmer out.
