Bought a Ryobi 40V two years ago, and still pleased with it. I read countless reviews on battery powered weed wackers and this one seemed to garner the most positive comments. Holds a charge long enough to trim my acre, with power left over. The battery stores well - I left it sitting for 6 months, and it was still fully charged. I've got to say, though, that it doesn't handle tough, fibrous weeds as well as a gas trimmer.

Just a normal sized lot in town. I trim around the house, fence, one tree, my shop, and the mailbox. Might go longer but I usually put the batteries on the charger after use so I really don't know.

That is very impressive.

Makita makes one also, I noticed the ads on YouTube as I have several Makita tools.

I bought the 40 volt greenworks pole saw and after using it to trim trees for a couple hours I bought the weedeater to go with it, and its impressive as well. I too have no plans of returning to gas power for these tools.

Yep, I consolidated on DeWalt 20v, great option.

I bought this combo a year ago. I like the weedwacker and it runs a long time on one battery. The leaf blower burns through the battery rather quickly. It does come with two batteries. I could use a third due to the amount of time I use the blower. I usually run out of juice with both batteries by the time I am done doing what I have to do.

We are starting our 4th summer with a Black&Decker LST 201 20 v model. It came with a small blower and 2 batteries. We get 30-45 minutes per battery.

I have the 18V Milwaukee trimmer along with the edging tool. Works really well. I also have had the 57V echo for a few years and I have had some battery problems with it. It seems to have fixed itself after i bought the Milwaukee but I have pretty much standardized on the Milwaukee since I have there other 18V tools.

Just got a Ryobi blower and found I needed to upgrade batteries, old drill battery was going on 6 years. Bought a 18V 6 ah battery and it works great. Will add a weedwacker this summer.

Never used gas but not dealing with a cord is a improvement.

Bought a cordless/battery DeWalt line trimmer today and pard bought a Ryobi 2 stroke at the same time. We both hit the fence line in the pasture this AM.

DeWalts going back tomorrow.

Battery lasts maybe 40 or 50 yards of fence line. The feed mechanism for line sucks azz. Considerably less power than the cheap Ryobi 2smoke trimmer. I’m sure better line and some playing around with the trimmer head would improve it, but it still wouldn’t be close. I’ll swap it for said Ryobi.

If you’ve 5 or 10 minutes worth of trimming around a few flower beds it’d probably be Ok, but as a whole, they ain’t there yet. At least DeWalt ain’t.

I mow 2 acres at my house and havent need a weed eater for 25 yrs

How about actual run times guys?

An acre means nothing if your only trimming around 2 trees,

or a 5 acre parcel that the goats clean up........

15 minutes?
30?
An hour?

20 minutes maybe? Not as strong as even a mid weight gas unit either.

I'm in the need/want for a new trimmer,

If they can't last at least 30 minutes, not interested.....

However, 2 batteries would give you 40 minutes?

This^^^^A buddy of mine has a Milwaukee and it is 1st class. He never runs out of juice and he has a pretty large yard.

I went through 2 fully charged batteries in less than an hour.

A gallon of gas and one of these will go a hell of a lot longer than I can.

I've had the Ryobi 18v for three years now. Near as I can tell it will do at least 400 to 500 feet of edging/trimming on one 4 amphr battery. Then switch to the blower for a little bit until the battery dies. Started with the Ryobi drill set and now have a bunch of the different tools. Much better than gas.
