The 357 has that annoying top safety. I was going to buy a 45 Colt until the availability and price got crazy. I'm not sure how many of these rifles are in Canada.
The 357 is a pussycat with any load, but the 44, even in rifle form, can be a handful with heavy loads. I have to wear a PAST recoil pad because of the steel butt stock.
Bill here, I think somewhere I already said I had one in 454 casull. Pre safety. Fun with trail boss !, gets your attention in 454! Still love it though, my short 45-70! I'm out 🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦
I've got a 357 with the 16" barrel and no safety. Awesome and fun little gun. Mostly shoot 38's in it to keep the cost down. Last fall with open sights I hit an 8" gong at 220 yards with store bought lead 38's. It was quite the flight time! My brother has the 44 mag and his wife has another 357. We bought them when they first started showing up in Canada. I got mine new for $425.
I have a couple of Rossi M92's, a .357 20" barrel pre-safety that I shoot a lot for fun, and a .44 16" with safety that I converted with a peep sight in place of the safety. Use that for my bear gun to carry "just in case" when at our bush camp in BC. I wouldn't have one with that goofy bolt safety still installed, it is much too prone to turning "on" at inopportune moments. They seem quite available and not rare at all, so I am wondering why you think they are not on the market any more Steve?
I too have a pair in .357 and .44. love the .357 the most. it's stupid accurate for what it is and pleasant to shoot with any load.
the .44 is definitely more recoil. TONS of fun to carry either though.
both mine wear the safety position rear ghost sight.

Bought one for my Dad for Christmas in 84 I think. 357 mag no safety. In fact the first time I ever deer hunted in 85 the M92 was the rifle I chose. He bought me an M700 243 so Id leave his gun home shortly afterwards.. Dad is gone and I still have both guns. Ive never killed anything with the 92 but Ive killed a trainload with the 700. I have however shot the M92 a LOT over the years. It is a super fun gun.
