I wish we had some here to fish for. There is a small man made lake about 50 or 60 miles away that is supposed to have walleye. When the lake was made it was stocked with smallmouth largemouth and another bass I cant remember.
They also stocked northern pike and walleye
I have caught or fishing buddies have caught all the bass and the pike, but haven't seen a walleye out of there. It is a cold spring fed lake. Dangerfield state park.

The way I see Paul and his lovely bride plate them ,I sure would like to try them.

Hahaha. My buddy has a bran-spankin new shiny boat. he said "When we got to the landing we'll dump the boat in and I'll pick you up at the end of the dock...dip your shoes in the lake and get the sand off." laugh laugh

I dipped my foot too far in and soaked my shoe. I was taking my shoes off and didn't get to the socks when the fish started biting. grin

It was an awesome day of fishing. It was a lot of fun.

Tom was that on Mille Lacs?

Similar story on the no shoes. Guy we bought our boat from would not allow shoes in his boat, also northerns had to be unhooked over the water, no slime dripping in his boat. Boat was 8 years old when we bought it and yes it looked like brand new.

Yes, sir it was Mille lacs.

I do t like to wear shoes in the boat...or anywhere else for that matter. But I don’t care if anyone else does. It’s a boat. Lol

Me too as far as that’s concerned. Can’t wait for the day I can hang up the work boots and not wear socks unless it’s hunting season.

We went to visit our son's family in Indiana this weekend. Driving from Mpls. to the Indy area, we quit counting at 25 road killed deer. We counted another 24 today on the way back. Lots of speed beef, man.

Had a great day of fishing yesterday coupled by a sad turn of events. Our dog Bailey had a stroke and is struggling. she's almost 14 and for a choco lab that's a good run. Having trouble walking and is disoriented a bit. I feel her biggest fear is leaving us without a protector as she is pretty needy it seems. tough to watch, making her comfortable, she doesn't appear to be in pain. just tough to go through. love on your pets, they are gone far too soon

So sorry to hear this Ryan. They love us so fiercely it's so hard to see them go.

Sorry to hear that Ryan. One of my good buddies just ran over his 5 month old lab yesterday. Family is pretty sick about it.

Paul, I thought about you as we drove through Wabigoon on our annual pilgrimage to Lac Seul last week. All but one day we had good weather and great fishing. Biggest catches were a 40" pike, 29" walleye, 19" smallie and a 70" dad (me). Good times. Well, except for the hook embedded in the back of my hand. We did the push it through and cut off the barb trick. I was really surprised how tough skin is. Pushing it through was actually hard to physically do. Finally I started cutting from the top and then it went through easier. I don't think I am getting an infection which is a minor miracle considering the hook was just in a northern's mouth. If anyone has to do this, it isn't as painful as you would think.

Yep, I've done this too !

Not too bad, as long as nothing is touching bone, then it's a whole other story !

Did you come up through Pigeon River, rather than International Falls ?

Glad you had a great trip, I was just lamenting how slow the spring fishing has been for us this year.

worse part about pushing a hook through can be the geometry of the hook. They don't all (hardly any) have a circular radius, so they don't roll through very nice.

Something clever here.
