Have more than a couple of them, all work as they should and have for years. Never heard of a nightforce sh*tting the bed yet. Next purchase will be a NF SHV 3-10 illume duplex...

I've never had one take a crap in any way; 3 SHVs, 4 - 32mm compacts, 2 - 42mm compacts. I've read a few reports of failures, but I take a lot of stock in what the guys who test scope for a living have to say and according to those guys there is no equal.

Tagging in on this one.

I'd doubt there is another mfg that has as stellar of a reputation among shooters.

Damnit!

I posted twice in the optics forums tonight.

Breaking my own rules.

Forgive me.

2 SHV's (3-10's), 2 NXS (both 2.5-10x42, adding a x32 which should be on the way soon next week), 1 NX8 (1-8).

I do need to go back to NX8 and check tracking/adjustments as the last time I seemed to be getting 2 in, 1 out after adjustments. I was rushed and didn't have time to verify things so please don't take this as throwing it under the bus. Could have been me, could have been the rifle/load, heat and lack of cool down time. I was juggling 3 rifles and the other two (LRHS and NXS) were tracking as expected under the same conditions. Have 2 other rifles I'll be shooting today if I have time....hopefully I can put it in the mix. I'd used the same NX8 on 2 different rifles previously and tracking/return to 0 was perfect.

I was rushed and didn't shoot the NX8 yesterday. Maybe later today.

The NXS 2.5-10 sighted in on a new rifle yesterday was EXACT when adjusted for original sight in and fine tuned for a 100 yard zero. Zero stop set. Will note that the same was true for a SWFA 6x I was alternating sighting in on a different rifle at the same time. It's just enjoyable and inspires confidence when they they do EXACTLY what you dial them for.

One for sure, and maybe another. The for-sure one was on a rifle a local gunsmith loaned me for a test-shoot. The scope went crazy during my test, and NF fixed it VERY quickly. (I knew it was the scope after replacing it with another Nightforce of mine, and the rifle started shooting great again, as in 1-hole groups at 100 yards, and a little over an inch at 400.)

Yep, this one was back in a couple days. Of course, western Montana isn't very far from northern Idaho.

Might also mention that the scope had been on top of a bunch of rifles that had been shot a LOT....

I've watched two friends have serious issues with ATACR's in the last year during competition. I still regard them as a brand to bet on, but maybe a little less of a sure thing as I would have in the past.

Pure negligence on my part, I had my 223AI/12-42x56 NXS resting on a bench cooling when I bumped it, with the ~11# rig landing on the cement right on the elevation turret. This is a scope I purchased used and I haven't a clue how many shots have been under it. POI did shift a bit so I ran the scope up/down and side/side through the adjustments and back to zero. Things are back to normal, that was 3 years and 200+ shots ago. I have 2 more 12-42x56's that have been flawless and are ~1500 shots each under them. Both on heavier rifles, a 16# 243AI and 19# 7WSM.

I've got 2 2.5-10x42's I haven't decided what to mount them on yet, but I suspect it'll be a low-drama affair to get them up and running.

I've seen just about everything give up the ghost once or twice, including Nightforce.

They do have a service department and it is stays reasonably busy. They make a good product and they are very diligent about testing stuff before it gets released. However, a lot of their stuff is still built by LOW and most scopes built by LOW for companies that pay attention have about the same failure rates once in production.

I know the return rates for several different companies and they are largely all in line with each other for comparable products once a product is in full production. Most of the differences are in how the product is introduced.
