Looking to put new optics on the Ruger Guide Gun in 375 Ruger. Nothing crazy just a good utilitarian scope that holds zero. The rifle will be the go to in Alaska for all big game. Any special quick detachable rings come to mind.
Thanks, MH

I have a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 on my .375 Ruger Alaskan. It’s my dedicated moose rifle with three bulls in its name so far. A good compromise for close or long shots.

The 1-4x or 1.5-5x Leupold are great versatile scopes. In fact a straight 2.5 or 4x work great and are even more rugged and weather proof. If you need to magnify any animal that requires a 375 more than 4x , you need to learn how to stalk !

I have a 1.1-4x24 in Warne mounts on a 20" one. This combination has been on many years and no issues. I have a 23.5" one currently with Alaska Arms ring and a 1.5-8x42. This rifle has had 1.1-4, 1.5-6, and now the 1.5-8. I do like the larger objectives and 6x in lower light. The Alaska Arms rings are my favorites. I have them on several Ruger rifles.

Mine wears a Leupold VX-3 1.75-6x32. IMO perfect for anything under 300 yards.

I had a 4x33 FXII leupold on mine for a while but switched to a burris 1.75-5x32 sig safari/posilock. Both work-worked well, but I went through less than 100 full power loads, and now I shot a 235g load, its just more fun for me and I don't have a brown bear hunt scheduled so I will stick to the 235s until I do.

My 375 Ruger wears a Leupold VarX-III 2.5x8. It's the old version with friction adjustments. It's a good older scope. It has never lost zero. It's been to AK for a nice grizzly in 2017 & over to South Africa for a Cape Buffalo. Perfect IMO.

I have a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 on my .375 Ruger Alaskan. It’s my dedicated moose rifle with three bulls in its name so far. A good compromise for close or long shots. That was going to be my suggestion! We used one for about 20 years, mounted in Leupold QD bases and rings. NEVER had a problem. With our relocation, and most shots being much longer we stepped up to the Leupold 3.5-10. The 2.5-8’s are carried with us for a back-up if needed. memtb

When I made my last trip to Africa I took my .375 H & H with a 6x and my .300 WM with a 4-12.. Most of the country we hunted was brush... The old advice of a fixed power seem to make sense, so I put a fixed 6x on the .375.. Did not have a fixed 4 x or less... Anyway I carried the .375 a day or so, shot one waterbuck with it, and picked up the .300 for the rest of the hunt... I planned to use the ,375, but the 4-12 made it much easier to find a hole in the thick brush ... Sometimes a spot as big as your hand was the clear path for shooting.. I put a 3-9 Leupold on it when I returned and it has remained there ever since...

I love my VX6 1-6 on my 375 guide gun. It has the best field of view, can be cranked up to 6x to miss small at extended range, and in a compact tough package. I would also be happy with the 1.75-6 or 2.5-8 others have mentioned.

Tried all of the Leupold 2 X 7 and 2.5 X 8 would not hold zero and adjust properly.
Prefer the Vortex Viper 2 X 7 to bad its been discontinued.

Thanks, MH I have a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36mm with Leupold alumina scope covers and Alaskan Arms LLC quick release scope rings. Then I have a NECG Ruger Ghost Ring Sight that fits in rear scope ring slot in my 375 Ruger Guide Gun. I have shot and killed deer and elk with this combo with Nosler 300gr. Accubonds.

I would look for Nikon African 1-4x with 25mm tube. Those had glued in lenses making them very shock and recoil resistant. Not sure if current Nikon 1-4 Monarch have same construction, but they do have same optical parameters.
