Well for what it's worth me & my wife drew our 1st choice deer ( buck ) tags for this coming season. Just received the results. Haven't heard on elk yet. Forgot to mention this is for unit 741.
Well we also drew out first choice elk tags. All rifles are sighted in..

Congrats! I got my first choice 3rd season deer tag and will primarily hunt unit 13. Only put in for PP for elk. Got all that I asked for. Feeling blessed more than I deserve!

Good going guys. I'm sure we all preparing for the coming hunt , at least emotionally at this point. Gives us some thing positive to look forward to. I grew up poor & the wild meat was an absolute gift from God. We still see it as the purest organic highly nutritional vitamin & mineral pack food around. Different foods you buy give you different amounts & types of vitamins & minerals. Think about this . Deer & elk don't eat one type of vegetation. They eat widely varied types of vegetation. Each different type of vegetation they eat . contain different amounts & types of minerals & vitamins. When you consume this wild meat you get this smorgasbord of organic nutrition.

Our 3 guys drew tags - 2 in 11 and me in 12 for 3rd season as 2nd choice so still have a couple of preference points. Will primarily hunting elk but sure hope a nice buck pops up. They always do when I don’t have a tag.

I'm in unit 741 & the back boundary of my land butts up against Ute land. The Utes have a deer & elk season on their land. I believe it is after the Colorado season's end. Don't know what they charge but have heard it can be a good hunt. Here is the phone# of " Ute Mountain Tribe of Indians" 970-565-4851. " Ute Mountain Travel Center" 970-565-5364. " Ute Mountain Executive Director" 970-565-9574. One of these #'s should get you thru to some one who can supply info on cost & season's.

Friend and I drew ML tags for the units around Pagosa. Going to see if some bucks are still up around timberline in the mid September time frame.

Drew a Whitetail E/S tag for my farm along the Arkansas this season!

Rain + Soybean crop this year = Big Bucks.

My oldest pulled her second season deer tag for unit 66. Can't wait. That's a fun hunt.

My buddy who is in Hamilton reported seeing lots of elk moving through headed presumably to higher elevations for the summer a couple of weeks ago. Hope to see them on the way back in November. Happy Trails

They have moved thru my place back in May heading toward the La Plata mountains. Left nothing but tracks behind. I won't see another elk on my place till the snow flies next late Nov at the earliest. Most likely some time in Dec..

Daughter #1 got a 3rd Rifle either-sex private land deer tag for units 3, 4, 5, 14, 214, 301 and 441. This means she will be able to hunt the same private land where she got her first mulie last year. The rest of us put in for and got Preference Points.

All five of us (Daughter #1, 2 SILs, brother of SIL and I) plan to purchase OTC antlered tags for 3rd Rifle elk. We all got a first choice Preference Point for elk and a second choice cow tag for 4th Rifle good in 3, 4, 5, 301 and 441. My plan is to hunt two seasons for the first time. Maybe take my wife along for 3rd Rifle, which would be here first elk hunt ever.
She doesn't hunt and doesn't like cold weather, so circumstances at the time will be determinant. Others will hunt various times, maybe spanning the two seasons, but if I see the migration starting I'll call them all in.
