Fellow 22 Creed fans, how much freebore are you running in your rifles and what bullets are you shooting? Mine is .080" thinking of going .100" on the new one with 88 ELD kisses in mind..

Sooner or later our heritage of hunting is going to be a rich mans sport and the words "Outfitter" and "Hunt Industry" will be synonymous with cancer and A.I.D.S. among blue collar hunters like me and my family! (A.L. Williams - 2010)

I went .090" and would so so again.

All it's ever shot was 88's.

Hint.................

Ya, I think anything from .080" to .130" would work fine for the 88's. If you want to be able to chase lands .130" would be about it though....

Depends how you are feeding it. I'm on a S/A 700,but driving AICS DBM,with bindered mags...one could go 6.5 Kreedmire SALAMI throating(.199") and still connect 88 ELD-M dots,but I specified .090" for a reason.(grin)

Hint.................

I like at least one caliber of bullet length remaining in the neck after chasing lands for 50 thou' or so. After that, it's time for a new barrel. Starting at .199" would give me me some pause, I think..

In fairness...there's NO Factory 264 Kreedmire Fodder that Smooches the SALAMI .199" freebore throating. Hint.

Due 100's of spouts passing betwixt my mitts,I'm an ardent fan of arranging a Smooch...so I never don't not.(grin)

Because of Kreedmire case length and the .224" version being the most forgiving, due gross projectile length,it's actually purty difficult to fhuqk up a 224 Kreedmire's throat geometry.

The .090" geometry was a great idea at inception and the fruition of same,is less any concessions, which is a nice place to be. I'd not freak the fhuqk out at .125"(as an arbitrary number),but prefer where I'm at.

There's method to the madness.

Who's building it? What barrel? RPM? Action? Stock? Mounts/glass? Application?

The 224 Kreedmire is my favorite .473" boltface .224" and by lightyears...mainly because I've shot/got them all.(grin)

Local guy.

Schnieder #3 finished at 22".

7 twist.

Trued up Rem 700 (BDL format).

McMillan Hunter, not Hunters Edge!

Hawkins/2.5x10x42 Nightforce.

LRX's for deer and ELD's for anything fluffy.

Ya, I got impatient and had some parts laying around. Picked up the Schnieder with a classifieds Bat Signal this week. Still waiting on a Lone Peak TI, a McMillan Edge Varmint and a 7 twist Proof Light to show up for the "real" build. APA bottom metal is in hand...

X- Are you shooting the creed with the .080 freebore now?

I'm set up with .080 freebore now, 1-8 twist and getting the best out of 88's at 2.664" COAL so far.

I'm going to rework loads when I can track down some RL26.

Mine sped up 150-200fps and the feeding issues with the pos mags improved dramatically!

What kind of OAL gets you to the lands with 88's & .090" throat? Is factory BDL flexible enough or would I be hamstrung?

I have been lucky with the factory magazine, it has been flawless and smoother than expected.

I had a decent load for 88's over Memorial weekend and was fine tuning groups this past weekend, and they kept getting bigger instead of smaller...Shot it again last night and had weird horizontal stringing making groups almost double what they were.

I ended up checking everything and had to tighten up the scope bases. I must have gotten in a hurry putting it together. crazy

I only have around 70 shots through mine so far, about 50-50 75ELD's and 88's.

I haven't tried the 80's yet.

A Factory BDL in a 308 Donor, typically nets 2.815" COAL latitude. Keep in mind that 264 Kreedmire SALAMI throat "geometry" is .199" and 264 boolits, just "might" be longer than them in 224. Skookum Throat geometry is factored upon a coupla thangs,or at least it fhuqking SHOULD be!(grin)

A 2.735" COAL square Smooch is arranged with an 88 ELD-M,wearing my .090" freebore. That don't slam doors upon the spectrum,in either direction and allows room to chase lands, while embracing new projectile aeroforms.

I'd not change a fhuqking thang, mainly because I've a few hunnert barrels to reflect upon in overview.
