"All that the South has ever desired was that the Union, as established by our forefathers, should be preserved, and that the government, as originally organized, should be administered in purity and truth." – Robert E. Lee
Historian Adrian R. Lewis wrote that because Eisenhower lacked combat experience, he did not have the respect of his colleagues given to those who served in battle.
Field Marshal Lord Montgomery said of Eisenhower: "nice chap, no general."
Field Marshal Lord Alan Brooke wrote in his diary on 28 December 1942 that Eisenhower as a general was "hopeless. He submerges himself in politics and neglects his military duties, partly...because he knows little if anything about military matters."
General George Patton wrote that it's too bad that Eisenhower has no personal knowledge of war.
General of the Army Omar Bradley wrote that Eisenhower "had little grasp of sound battlefield tactics."
Admiral John L. Hall Jr., the commander of Amphibious Force 'O', which landed the 1st Division at Omaha Beach, wrote that Eisenhower "was one of the most overrated men in military history.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ike wasn't a battlefield general. He was more like a big picture, logistics guy. Guys like Patton and Clark were the battlefield generals, the guys who needed to know how to fight.
You need the "big picture, logistics guy" for overall war planning. Even if he knows real battle tactics, he won't have the opportunity to use it.

After reading the Wiki write up on his career I would say that is an accurate assessment. He was not ordered to Europe until late in Great War, and never saw combat due to the armistice. He was admired for his "book learning" military strategies and administrative and organizational skills. He was a pogue.

Indicative of the caliber of filth and vulgar that would post. I'm not disappointed or even a bit surprised.
Sportyspice will be along shorty to hack your beard off and ostracized you from the community.
Yep The upright citizens brigade has noted it I'm sure. And waiting for the gotcha chance on me without a doubt...

Gen George Marshall had as much impact, or more, on the outcome of WW-II than 95% of the generals/admirals and especially shaped the post war world with the Marshall plan and never saw combat.
That being said, how is someone a helo pilot and flag officer and only accumulated 1500 hours?

. . . how is someone a helo pilot and flag officer and only accumulated 1500 hours?
One 3-year tour of duty as a pilot. 300 hours through flight school and 1200 combined co-pilot/HAC.

You can bet her old man had her career mapped out from the get go. A medivac pilot in Iraq is dangerous duty for sure. Low and slow is quite vulnerable. But it is not leading infantry.

Typical commissioned aviator in the Army. They just dont fly. Warrants do most of the flying, spend their career at the flight line, not in a office.
Most commissioned types that make it to O-6 or higher will have Senior wings, but very rarely wear Master wings. They dont get to put in the time in an Operational Flight position to earn the required time and they damn sure dont get the required flight time. Most Warrants have the flight time, just wait on the years.
I think Senior Wings was 84 months and 1500 hours and Master Wings is 180 months and 2500 hours. Not 100% on the time for the Master Wings. I met both months and hours for mine, so not something I concerned myself with.
There is no way to coexist no matter how many bumper stickers there are on Subaru bumpers!

Interesting - thanks much. I just hired a former Blackhawk/Apache warrant but he doesn't start until the 19th.
