I don't know much about the ivory trade or the laws but it seems that if they would deregulate the sale of ivory, make it legal for import and dump all the ivory confiscated to date, on the open market, it would tank the price of ivory and make poaching for it less profitable. With the caveat that a large percentage of the proceeds would go to further anti poaching and wildlife conservation measures. Of course I'm just an outsider looking in, not understanding all the complexities of the situation.

Who cares?

Desperate people will do almost anything when their backs are against the wall.

There is nothing that Caucasians can do to save Negroid Africans from themselves and it is a waste of effort/money/time to try and do so. They wanted to be independent, so let them rise or fall by their own hands. I think that when the Chinese decide to colonize Africa the people who are old enough to remember European colonialism will probably remember it fondly and wished that they had had the foresight not to demand independence before they had a developed a class of educated and skilled people to lead and manage their countries. 20/20 hindsight.
