i ordered a 4x last night. could not pass that up.

Their 2.5-7X rimfire is a helluva scope especially at $100. I just ordered another for my recently acquired 66 vintage Ruger 10-22 Mannlicher.

So, does anyone have the V7?

ER on the Weaver site is listed at 3.15 inches, but all the vendor sites with specs show it at 3.5-4.5". Which is correct?

My favorite 2-7 scope. I believe the eye relief is in the 3.5-4.5 camp, not 3.15. I contemplated ordering another when I saw the sale. Mine is clear and tracks well. Has spent most of its life on a Rem 760 30-06.

Maybe go old school and mount it on a Featherweight in Weaver tip-off rings? Sort of like JB has on his?

Weaver's website lists 3.15", but their online catalog lists 3.62" for the V2.5-7. And they have those reversed with the V2-10x38. I think someone just messed it up, but it's a question I submitted quite some time ago and never got a response back on. Likewise, the specs they listed in 2009 are different than the current catalog dated 2017. The 3.5-4.5" is from the 2009 catalog specs. The other difference being, the specs are listed with a single number instead of a range. I have my doubts about that.

BTW, the eye relief question has always bugged me. It seems to be a varying figure in a lot of Weaver's literature, online and print, and because of that I've always shied away from buying any of their scopes. I'd love to see all the manufacturers just use a fixed eye relief like some do, but I suppose that's not in the cards.

That's because of what JB calls the Optics Triad, or something of the sort. Power, field, and eye relief all are interrelated, and the maker shifts the three aound to suit their perception of what customers will buy. I'm big on ER; one reason being my general insistence that I be able to work the bolt without lifting my face off the comb, even with my long-actioned Mausers.

I'll shine a light through it when in lands and report the bitter truth.

Wish these had a 32 or 33mm objective.

Well, that 'splains the discrepancies anyway. Thanks for all the trouble you went to. If the best "estimate" turns out to be true and they still have them on sale on Direct Deposit Day, I might pick up another or one of the RF models. I love good, cheap scopes.

Good buy on these little for Weavers for sure.

Having a hard time between one of these or a Bushnell Elite 3500 2-7x for same money. I am a sucker for that Rainguard.

Did the light measurement with my V2.5-7x32. Measured from the bell. Scope purchased in 2009. Measurement at 2.5x was a little tougher to pinpoint. Did a few more data points at 4x and 5x.

Eye relief: 3" - 4.25" (possibly up to 4.5"), 3.25" @ 5x, 3.5" @ 4x.
