I'm looking at the Havalon Piranta and I'm a bit confused by all the replacement blades. I find ones that are labeled 60, 60A and 60XT. What's the difference?

I don't know about the 60. But the 60A is a slightly thicker version of the 60xt. I use the 60A blades and have only broken one while dressing/butchering game. And I was really misusing the knife that time.

Are these blades pretty sharp? I bought a Talon recently and the blades are fuller than I expected, especially the fillet blades

They're very sharp by my standards. They don't take a lot of pressure to cut through hide and flesh, so I end up being much more surgical with them. They will loose their edge if you cut through much hair. If I take care to cut from the inside of the hide and then outward to avoid hair, I can skin and quarter an entire elk with one blade.

I order the 60a because it's a little thicker but I can't say I've ever noticed a performance difference. They're both incredibly sharp
