Need some brass for this caliber and found some Norma for around 70.00 per 100. My question is would the lapua brass be worth the extra cost vs the norma?
Thanks

not for hunting but if you shoot bench shoots or FTR`s yes Lapua brass might help a little then. if its a hunting rifle i just use regular priced brass then in all my rifles.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with anything that has Lapua stamped on it...

Can't say I've experienced the same confidence in brass with a Norma Head Stamp...

What's your chamber? Match the brass and dies to the chamber dimensions, lots of variations in the 6.5 X 284.

I don't know what my chamber is. It's a pre 64 win that has been remembered. It only says 6.5-284 on the barrel. Factory nosler ammo chambers and shoots good but it is expensive.

Mine is chambered in 6.5x284 Norma, and I use Lapua brass. I would imagine that for a $40.00+ savings that unless your using it for bench rest competition, you wont notice the difference.

Norma is the company that brought the cartridge out of the wildcat world and into SAAMI specs. In 1999, Norma submitted it to CIP. It has since been standardized as the 6.5mm-284 Norma.

As others have stated, there are many variations on custom chamber dimensions, throat size etc.

Good Luck, YMMV

I get more loads out of Lapua than Norma in other cartridges. For $40 difference I would go Norma if next time you need brass the prices are closer try Lapua. I think some target shooters push the velocity window to get to the next higher accuracy node, these shooters will benefit from the tougher Lapua brass. For more plebeian loads the Norma is fine.
