Who ever started producing that sh*t oughta be shot. Sure does gum up the works on a progressive press. Thought I had them all sorted. Guess not.

Good to know. This was all range pickup. Some folks showed up at the local range while I was shooting my rifles. Had a new Thompson replica and a couple handguns. They were there about an hour, maybe less. I picked up 200+ 45 ACP, ~100 9mm and ~100 380’s. All once fired. Thought I had them all.

I always sort them, but can miss one.. Don't have a progressive press but they do tend to stop the process. I have never seen any difference in accuracy or anything between large or small primer brass however. Only reason I would use them.

The last case of 45 ACP I bought was S&B. Good ammo, large primer brass and it reloads just fine.

I've started marking my ammo with a sharpie. Range pickup where I shoot is all once fired, except mine.

Happened to me last Saturday, motoring along happily on the Dillon, when, CRUNCH...friggin' small primer Federal...

Except for dedicated revolver loads I run mixed brass in the ACP, though I try to cull out the S&B and load it separately. The pockets tend to the tight side and takes a different feel when seating than domestic stuff. Good brass though, I ran a batch through 10 times with full pressure loads and no issues.

Did you know the SP primer works better then the LP? The case is too small for a LP at the start.

John Moses Browning. I'm sticking with him.

I sort them out and give them to a buddy with a 400 CorBon.
They do it in rifles too. The 6.5 CM, 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel can be had in either flavor. I have tested the 6.5 Grendel a good bit and found that the Large primers to be more accurate. I also found Win 7.62x39 brass that is fireformed to 6.5 Grendel is more accurate than Lapua brass.

I hope the sorry SOB who came up with the small primer 45 ACP spends eternity in the 4th circle of Hell sorting an Everest size mountain of brass by primer size.

Indeed.

In a perfect world I would shoot exactly one make of .45ACP brass and never sweat the sorting by primer hassle. But like most guys who shoot their 1911's a lot but who don't take it too seriously, and who resort to using range pickups and "mixed brass" from vendors, I curse the genius who first deigned to stick a small primer in a .45 case. May a Bird of Paradise fly up his nose.
