Stradic CI 1000 FJ, drag problem.

Adjusting drag, the drag knob tightens just as usual, and the drag increases as usual, to a point.

Once the drag hits a certain point, I can still pull line against the drag, but the drag knob starts turning, tightening as the reel turns releasing the line per the drag.

Which increases the drag until there is none, which I noticed this weekend can be a problem when smallmouth fishing.

Has anybody ever run into this type of thing?

Greased everthing up, no help.

Pulled everthing apart, reassembled, no help.

Ordered a new drag knob, cause I was outta ideas.

Anybody ever run into anything like this?

Just spitballing, but look at an exploded diagram and make sure you have all the washers and such. It seems like you would have a series of washers to divorce the tension knob from the turning of the spool.

Thanks for the help.

The diagram doesn't show anything between the knob and the spool.

It came with an extra spool, tried that, no difference.

Took the drag knob off another Stradic, and the thing worked fine.

Somethin in the knob, I guess.
