"You get what you give". No, not really.

If you've ever raised children, you know they aren't all the same. Some respond to kindness and give little trouble, always eager to please, get good grades. Some require harsh discipline and are a constant struggle, in trouble alot, in and out of jail when older, alcoholics, whatever. Same parents, same opportunities, different people.

If you "Get what you give", why are criminals breaking into homes and beating up 90 year old women? Why are women raped? Why are people murdered? Because they first murdered someone?

The truth is while an act of kindness often begets an act of kindness, often people get nothing that they've given. In this life there will be trouble, and it is most often not in direct response to trouble that was first given, it just happens.

When people do bad things to someone, it often has nothing to do with some bad thing you first did to them. The truth is there are people with pathologies that either prey on other people opportunistically or deliberately.

And for Charlie, I noticed your thread by the name "You get what you give". In it you say you said nice things about me but it fell on deaf ears. Did it? I thanked you for them. I'm not sure why you say "It fell on deaf ears", because it did not.

Another example of you do not always get what you give.

How many of you were right there when Steelhead was causing so much trouble? There were plenty of people here willing to ride his coattails when it was going with the tide. I bet those same people rode the tide against him when it changed directions.

There was a thread about picking up an arrowhead on forest service land... he said it was not only illegal but you would lose your 2A rights over it. Not only that but you couldn't take a rock, then said you couldn't move a rock.

I finally had to cyber laugh at his absurdities which sent him over the edge.

He was so mad he paid a couple hundred bucks to the county to do an address search, then posted my full name and address on the fire, with a smug, Hey Kent is this you? heading. Now I know he went to the county because they had/maybe still have my address wrong... so I got to laugh again, nope wrong address.

Anyway most folks back then knew my name and my phone number was posted numerous times for different events we put on.

I reversed searched him, no money spent... name address ph#... anyone willing to pay money to find me then threaten publicly may be willing to pay for a plane ticket.

So I told a cop friend if they ever have to pull a comatose or dead body from my house and his name is Jr, you're my witness.

It works.

Giving is the gift to yourself, you receive more than the person you gave something to... that uplift of spirit, you feel good, positive, at least for a bit in this chitty world.
