I know a nice custom filet is the answer. That’ll be one day down the road.

Any preference to store bought filet knives?

Rapala / marttiini about the best?

When you are ready for that Custom I would strongly suggest a Phil Wilson Punta Chivato

+1 On the Dexter Russell - not fancy but for the price they have a decent edge and even I can get then sharp again so thats saying alot:) I've cut up a boatload of salmon with mine and they have been great.

Don't have one but seems the Bubba Blade fillet knives are supposed to be a pretty good knife.

Wowza, the grohman is nice. But $$

Are the dexters a flexiable filet knife? Or a boning blade? Or is that really the same.

Depends on the style you choose - they have full on fillet knives and they also have boning/fillet style blades. I have several of this one and it seems to work well for my use.

I also have a couple of what they call the Wide blade fillet I use on bigger fish.

when I had my wholesale fish operation, I bought those blue handled F. Dick knives. Never looked back. I still have three that I use constantly.
