I have owned a few of these and unfortunately where I lived/live there is not a good local gunsmith. The 2 I took in for adjustment were done by apparent amateurs. I picked up a short action 1500 last weekend and decided to see if I could do it myself . Was it a piece of cake? Absolutely not, but after stoning the front of the trigger face and then refitting it 1/2 dozen times and trying it I have an almost perfect 2 3/4 lb trigger. Quite frankly I was ready to buy a Timney for it.

The trigger and sear locknut are some unusual size like maybe 6.5mm? I am not sure if this is the exact size needed. I will try to find a wrench for it on Monday at the local tool supplier and probably 2 new locknuts as well.Plier tight doesn't cut it. That is the almost perfect part grin

I was not able to get all the creep out of some of the factory Howa triggers and have the safety still work. Always had to leave a tad of creep in for the safety to engage. Be sure you check that before you call the job done.

I put a Rifle Basix in my 1500 and have been very happy with it. Comes with a safety.

Yep, Rifle Basix; and I have worked on several Howa-Vanguard triggers.

It's done. Thats why I had to emery and stone the trigger until that darn safety worked with no creep. It has to be a PITA for a gunsmith to do. A good one does not charge enough.

I should get a good idea of the rifles potential using this trigger. I don't want to spend half the rifles value on a trigger unless it is a shooter
