Doug,

Does your closeout sale on the LRTS indicate Bushnell is discontinuing them?

It was a well timed purchase by us at the end of the 1st half of the year. We brought in a large position of them in order to be able to offer the pricing we are. We purchased all their remaining in house inventory smile
To my knowledge this will remain and in line product.

I wish I could get the non-illuminated reticle in the Matte Black. I have just never warmed up to the illuminated reticles. I realize that I don't ever have to turn it on, but it still adds weight and another knob.

Thought I remembered hearing that somewhere. I don't generally mind a bolder center on a mid-powered hunting scope, even with a mil or moa scale, but most of my shooting is inside 500yds, so there's less concern of blotting out too much of a target.

Initial thoughts?

Full-on sniper stud optic. Clicks are very positive. On 3x the reticle is tiny. Came in a fancy box! It is smaller than a Hawke 2.5-10x50, fwiw. Bargain, although the most expensive scope I've purchased.

Will be mounting later today and will follow up with an edit with better initial thoughts.

Not sure if the whispy barrel is up to it but here's a look of what I intend to try for my A#1 hunting rifle...

Further initial thoughts, WOW! Eyebox is friendly, while unmounted I was not sure. For my tastes, at 6X - 12X I am GTG. Lower, it might not be ideal in dimmer lighting, oh hell, I can turn the lights on. Uber clear. Everything firm, secure, well-crafted. Windage dial is bigger than I can imagine needing, but noticeably lower than SWFA 3-9 on this rifle. Balance with the can is good actually. Total weight is unknown. Got the power ring lever doodad off. In the daylight, the illumination is from non-visible to it'll work. Sooooooooo glad it's FFP.

Really very pleased for the excellent price Doug has on them. Eventually I will get out and see if I can get things zeroed. I appreciate the input on these scopes from the guys up top. No complaints. smile

Good lookin' rig there Boomer, nice write-up. I really like the LRHS's I have, as you know the same scope and reticle but it has the "donut of death". You nailed the fact that the eyebox is really, really nice even at higher mags. The 18x is the same way. Great glass too, and it is illumination done right for sure. IMHO it has it all over the SWFA in every way except weight and price, but a guy can't find a better scope for that price anywhere, made by anybody.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Doug had an LRTSi on my doorstep this week also. Just got it mounted to my Bergara HMR 6.5CM. This is to replace the 4.5-18 LRHSi I bought from GAP last year, as I sold that one to a buddy who wanted it for the magnification. The 3-12 LRTSi meets my needs a bit better, as like the reticle to be a bit bold at 8-10x when I'm hunting and there was no 3-12 illuminated option on the LRHS. As MtnBoomer said, the scopes seems very sturdy and user-friendly, with a good eyebox, much like the LRHS series. Hope to wring it out this coming week.

Thanks for the good deal, Doug!

Doug, is the FDE scope an illuminated reticle? The header and hotlink says not illuminated but in the description below says illuminated G3.

How is the non-illuminated reticle in low light?

Overall, seems like some good deals!

How do these compare the Meopta Optik 6? Kind of torn between the two but have never been able to look through either.

I do own a Meopta 4-12x40 that works very well for me and doesn't seem to be far behind higher end scopes.. I also have Nightforces for more tactical guns and a Ziess Victory for hunting.

I cannot give an answer. The Optika6 just started shipping last week and is a new product. The Bushnell has been out a while and is a proven entity. In 6 months I can give a fair and honest answer.

I can say that everyone who has gotten these Bushnells is happy and with the reduced price through Labor day it's a steal

I just ordered one of these from Doug a few days ago, the 3-12x44 in FDE. At that price it is an absolute steal of a deal.

I got one of the 4.5-18x44 LRTS for my LR rig earlier this spring and love it. That one replaced the SWFA 3-15 that I had been using. It was a significant upgrade in glass and features. Ever since then I have been wanting one of the 3-12 to replace another 3-15 SWFA that is on my main coyote rifle. When this deal came up I had to jump on it. If I had the money I would buy one of the black ones with illuminated reticle too.

I can confirm that the DMRII non-illum has a finer center crosshair than the DMRII-i, but I haven’t compared recent manufacture LRTS vs LRTS-i to see if the reticles have changed.

I'm not really that worried about one being thicker or thinner, but I heard a while back that the illuminated reticles scale was off pretty by quite a bit.

There were supposedly a few that got out with incorrect subtensions, which Bushnell took care of under warranty.

The illuminated versions have always been a bit thicker, which has not bothered me in my match rifle, and which I actually prefer on my hunting rifles.

Oh yeah, the subtension error was brief and was quickly remedied.

The reticle difference is minor, but I very much prefer the finer reticle on the non-illuminated version of the higher-magnification scopes like the 3.5-21x or 4.5-18x for the type of work I do with that type of scope. For hunting with the 3-12x, I like the G2H reticle.

Just got off the phone with Doug. I finally caved, had to pick up one of the Flat Dark Earth options offered here. I think it's going to look/work excellent on my recent production Kimber Montana 223 with the moss green stock.

I will say this. In my opinion, there is no better place to buy optics than www.cameralandny.com

Doug and his crew are as good as it gets. Absolutely incredible people.

Thanks again Doug for the hookup!!

Ok...someone make me look stupid please.

My windage turret will not turn at all. How does the lock work?

I wasn't even aware it had a lock on the windage until I looked at the online manual, still no luck though.

I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious....

My first thought was to try that, but it won’t pull out.

To those that have bought the LRTSi, do you find the reticle too thick at all for shooting small groups? Do you find the illumination usable in fading daylight?

I had an LRHS, sold it and wish I hadn’t have. So I’m considering one of these, don’t know that I need the illumination tho, especially if the reticle is significantly thicker than the non-illum model

Still easy to shoot small groups with, especially if your aiming point is well suited to the reticle. Group below was shot with an LRTSi.

Bushnell did the illumination right. On its highest setting, daylight visible. On its lowest setting, barely visible at night, with something for every situation in between.

That being said, I’ve never needed to use the illum because the reticle is bold enough during legal shooting hours so that I haven’t needed it.

John

Still easy to shoot small groups with, especially if your aiming point is well suited to the reticle. Group below was shot with an LRTSi.

Bushnell did the illumination right. On its highest setting, daylight visible. On its lowest setting, barely visible at night, with something for every situation in between.

That being said, I’ve never needed to use the illum because the reticle is bold enough during legal shooting hours so that I haven’t needed it.

Just ordered one of these and ran into a minor complication in the shipping process. One phone call this morning and Camera Land resolved it immediately. Didn't even put me on hold to do it. I really appreciate the way these guys take care of customers.

Just talked to Doug and put one of these on layaway, Bushnell Elite Tactical LRTS 3-12x44 - G3 Illuminated. Had the Bushnell Elite Tactical LRTS 4-18 x 44 - Illuminated on the close out but ended up trading it for a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14 x 40mm Side Focus plus cash with a buddy. I liked the scope but for my hunting use I really didn't need the the 18 power and felt the 4 power was a bit much on the low side although 3 isn't a lot lower. The scope isn't any smaller or lighter and although I don't have it in hand yet as long as it is built like the 4-18 model I will be pleased. I don't think or at least am aware of another non China made scope with the features and glass quality (assumed) since I don't have it in hand yet. I must say Doug was a pleasure to work with and gave me answers to questions I had in regard to other options i'd considered. To many a 50mm objective is preferable, for me on my hunting rifle is too much. For those curious I am in Alaska shooting a Sauer Model 101 XT in .300 win Mag, its not a heavy rifle so the additional weight of the scope isn't an issue, if I again saw my self sheep hunting I might consider a lighter scope.Seven hundred dollars isn't cheap but it isn't $2000.00 dollars either and considering these aren't seconds and originally had a retail price of roughly $1200.00 dollars come with a life time warranty, for the price and quality of glass and features; if this scope fits your requirements you'd be hard pressed to find a better scope for the price. I wish to thank Doug and appreciate the price!

8mmRem-good write and congrats.. I'm still thinking hard on the FDE version. I'm in no hurry, so maybe, just maybe there will be a Black Friday sale price that I simply can't resist.

We are running low on these scopes, however, we do have an open box for $669.99, give me a call if you want it.

Just also got a Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR II 3.5-21x50 - G3 Illuminated (Open Box) for only $1,049.99

What do you guys think about this scope being used with a .22LR rimfire bolt action for mostly range work 25-200 yards and some woods hunting for gray squirrels?

I love these scopes but parallax adjustment only goes down to 50 yards.

I wasn't even aware it had a lock on the windage until I looked at the online manual, still no luck though.

I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious....

I better fess up. First range session and mine wouldn't budge! I Google it and found out about the pull. LOL smile
