Toad stool,
The cartridge was cited as well as the bullets for discussion. Why is it so hard to stay on topic?
It isn't energy that kills, its holes.

What do you mean you don't condone stupidity? You are the epitome of stupidity.
I'd rather die in a BAD gunfight than a GOOD nursing home.

Nosler Partition. Only because I have had excellent results using them and the farthest I have ever shot at an elk is 450 yards. They work. Now if you need a super long pointy bullet to sail out there to 700 yards then you are doing it wrong.

Do you "think" a 2600fps launch is going to zook a 180 at 15yds?
Actually, I don't "think", I know. I had the opportunity to pop a couple of pigs that made the mistake of trying to cross our line of fire while shooting a Tikka 7mm-08 using 180 grain ELD-Ms (MV of 2578) on some distant steel. The shot was about 65 yards and I hit pretty square on the shoulder. The bullet exploded on impact. The only reason we got that pig was a follow up shot that hit the spine from my buddy. Upon inspection of the dead pig, the ELD-M only had about 3 inches of penetration and the only internal damage to the hog was some bone fragments and lead slivers in one lung. It may or may not have died and we certainly wouldn't have recovered it without that second shot. Now, I realize that a hog is not an elk, but elk are pretty damn tough too and I would not want to shoot one at 20 yards with a Match bullet. The 175 grain ELD-X bullet would be a better choice if looking for a high BC 7mm bullet.

Love to see the results of 180 ELD vs big elk bones.... at any speed. No doubt they’d put a hurting on hydraulic and aspiration systems.... I remain a bit dubious about drivetrains though.
Deer.... then hell yeah... the 180 offers a whole lotta ass, for not a lot of gas. Though.... I’ve caught more 162s in deer than all other bullets combined.
Elks are big... and the ones I’ve been around live in the schitt... I’ve seen a couple take a serious beating and end up in places that make for some hellbitch pack-outs. Breaking bones is never a bad idea.... not sure I’ve seen enough from any member of the ELD family... to send it on that task.
Partition vs. Accubond.... take your pick... don’t think you’re gonna see much difference. I’ve killed with the 160 via 7RM our past 500... and never had any issues making hits on steel past 1k.... but I’m pretty lucky.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

LAUGHING!............... Cool... post up some pics... you seem to be the only oracle of the ELD here. Like I said.... I haven’t seen it... but I have seen some erratic results from that bullet... and other ELDs. I’d love to see the bulls (mooses, Elks, boos, schitt) you’ve punched with a 180..... seeing as pixels are your specialty and all. It’s ok if you haven’t actually done it.... any response other than a pic will be a clear admission of your lack of actual experience on the subject at hand.... hint.
