Local gun shop has a weatherby mark V 7mm mag on consignment for less than $400. It’s been heavily used but looks to be a deluxe model. Any reason not to buy it? Smith said headspace was good and clean bores just some cosmetic stuff (bluing imperfections/small scratches on the wood stock).

Three mark v’s. German , Jap and American. Which is this one. Action alone should be worth 400. Hasbeen

Not sure. Any info on prices for each? Assuming German, American, Jap listed most expensive to least expensive?

Heck, you could most likely get $100 or more for the scope if you separate them. That means you got the rifle for $265 or slightly less. You can't get a cheap Mossberg or Savage for that price. I just purchased a lightly used Steyr SBS in 243 for $440 plus tax. I ended up selling the scope for a little over $100, So basically, I got it for a little over $350.

I've got a couple boxes of ammunition for it, if interested.

I guess I need to spend more time crawling around small gun stores. None of the places around here ever have deals like that.
Great find and good buy.

I don’t know.....I’m going to need to wait for big stick to chime in on this one before I know if it’s good or not.

From what I’m reading, seeing, seems to be a soft market.
Any ideas, theories on why?

Problem with the Mk V 7mm (Wby I assume), and I have one, is that they have a 1-10" twist.
It's too slow. It generally doesn't shoot bullets over 140gr well. For example, the Fed.-loaded 160 Trophy Bonded Tipped bullets hit 100yd targets at an angle (oval-shaped holes in the targets) out of my rifle.
Mine shoots the 140gr TTSXs pretty well, but I am disappointed that I can't fire the heavier bullets out of it with acceptable accuracy.
