Ruger hornet, heavy barrel. SWFA 3-15. Want low as possible. Anybody have experience. Only Ruger bolt gun I own so not familiar with their sizing. Have a Weaver KT15 on it now with whatever the hell came with it and they're too high for my tastes.

I put a leupold 3.5 x10 with a 40 mm objective in Ruger lows on mine . It clears the bolt handle but not by much . I don't like rings to be any higher than absolutely necessary.

Probably so . I think the SWFA 's are physically larger on the ocular housings.

Ruger rings are numbered. You can probably move your front ring to the rear and buy a single front ring one number lower.

Your gonna probably need #5's.........otherwise bolt handle clearance isn't gonna happen with a SWFA

Might as well get these coming as well............. https://www.triggershims.com/ruger_m77.htmlSave yourself the headache and start with bolt shims........ Also, torque action screws lightly....20 inch lbs front and rear............25 inchlbs MAX on the little 77/22 Hornet Action. 40 grain Bullet......Neck size (with lee collet die), Small pistol primers (CCI 500), and a case full(13.0-14.0gr depending on Brass capacity, Rem has 1 grain more capacity than others) of Lil'Gun Powder should put a smile on your face. If it doesn't shoot that, it's not gonna shoot.

As mentioned, the bolt clearance on the 77/22, 77/17 can be as much or more of an issue than the barrel. Any kind if a “tactical” style eyepiece will likely require a high. I put mediums on Dad’s 77/17 with a Nikon prostaff rimfire, and the bolt BARELY clears. This is the new Prostaff rimfire with a more “classic” style eyepiece. The bolt just about bumps the magnification selector when on 9x.

I used Leupold Mediums on a 77/17, with an SWFA 3-9. Bolt handle clearance was adequate.

Just needs new glass to realize it's full fun factor. Didn't want bolt handle to smack the ocular on a SWFA.

I use 15.5gr AA1680 with a 35gr Nosler Varm Tipped in my Ruger sporter K hornet. If Lil Gun gets squirrely on you, I'd suggest Accurate 1680, it's the only thing I use in my "modified hornets". Lil Gun is magic in the standard hornet.

Leupold Mediums work, will touch the bell a bit if you’re running the bolt hard, but isn’t bad. That’s on 6x and 10x, never had a 3-15 on mine.
