I've had this awhile but just now getting around to messing with it. Its a Smith Corona 03-A3, 308 Norma Mag. I've seen pictures of several of these that all look about the same. Anyone have information on them?

Nice rifle, but nothing all that special. Looks like a run of the mill sporterized Springfield done in the 60s. The woods are full of 'em.

Looks like a local gunshop product or perhaps a student project from one of the gunsmithing schools.

I used to have one.I used 338 Win mag brass for mine. It takes about 5 loadings until the neck stretches to 308 Norma specs so you don't have to trim for awhile anyway.

As stated, the woods are full of them. Mine is still in 06 and I made my longest shot on a whitetail with it. They are the equal of anything made today for all around use except maybe a little heavier than what is coming out today. It's origin as the US military long arm and all the patriots that carried it in defense of this country are what place it a notch above most anything out there!

Have a M94 that is going to celebrate it's 100th birthday soon. A M54 that was my Grandfather's of unknown age.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

The history makes it special. They are fine rifles and just as useful today as they were 70 years ago. If I was forced to sell some of my guns, my M1917 sporter is one that wouldn't be on the list.

I've been using the 308 Norma Mag for years, great cartridge. And your rifle is a great delivery system! Enjoy!
